Israel was initially welcomed in 1982 by almost all the Lebanese who wanted Palestinians defeated,, but in typical Israeli fashion, they just massacred everyone indiscriminately and overstayed their welcome and the shiites grew to resent them. Had Israel been more intelligent in their dealing with Lebanese during the invasion theyd have a lifelong ally.
