My brother works at Wal-mart and he told me yesterday our local store just brought in a SHIT TON of new self checkout machines.
wtf Sup Forums told me that the automation meme was still like 10 years away. Universal basic income soon right? the jews will take care of their cattle right? pic is from jewgle but the story is true
self serve checkouts have been a thing in most large supermarkets and hardware stores for years here.
Jason Flores
this isn't even automation
Carson Martinez
oh no you were lied to that suuuucks
Eli Lopez
automation coming soon
Austin Mitchell
Shelves still need stocking, things need cleaning, etc. Don't sweat it, wal mart is massive and behind the curve in regards to this.
Nolan Martinez
Not until those machines can stock shelves at 2 am while blasting numetal and wearing edgy shoes with flames on them.
Cooper Parker
We have that in Australia and New Zealand. One reason is cost and another is customer service. Unless your buying from an owner operator, a manufacturer or somewhere upmarket good luck getting good customer service in New Zealand.
Bentley Morris
What on earth made you believe them when they told you that? Do you exclusively shop at Wal-Mart and don't know about how this is a thing at every supermarket in existence?
Sebastian Hill
self checkouts are 90's techonogy mane. Have you seen the vending machines that take dollars yet????
Adrian Anderson
leet checked
Henry Fisher
is the heat in australia frying your brain? they're are bringing in WAY more. The norm so far has been 6 machines and like 15 human lanes (of which many remain closed because the jews won't hire people to man them). They are removing HUMAN lanes and bringing in more machines. The plan is for the machines to replace the human lanes all together soon.
At my local Chase bank they are trying to get rid of human tellers as well both inside and outside the bank. Other major banks are doing the same
David Anderson
But Sup Forums told me self check out machines will only come when the cashiers at Walmart demand that minimum wage be raised be raised by two dollars an hour!
Why did Sup Forums lie to me?
Sebastian Flores
>self checkout machines God I cant wait. Dunno how it is in other countries but 90% of the time when I go grocery shopping there's only 2 people operating the checkout machines when theres like 10 total, which in turn means that he queues are insufferably long
Nolan James
Good. I hate going to grocery stores that don't have these. Line is always longer and moves slower when there is a human cashier. There are always fewer cashiers working than necessary to avoid lines because the store understaffs. Cashiers always required to give you some spiel about some promotion the store is doing or sell you on their loyalty card.
Jordan Watson
>Universal basic income
If you are useless to society, why would others pay you to live? And how do you force them to? They have all the robots.
Leo Rivera
There's self checkout machines in a supermarket near me but they're only for people who need to buy a few things quick so they don't take up space at the cashier
Jose Roberts
>raise the minimum wage they said >it will improve the economy they said
Zachary Lee
Universal basic income won't be enough to live off, unless you want to eat noddles everyday and live in the hood. People will still work but no one will grow up in poverty
Jackson Turner
the self check out machines are fucking worthless bro, if anything goes wrong in the transaction they lock down and you have to wait for a human to come and enter their employee idea. this happens OFTEN. machine detects more or less items than planned in the bagging area? PLEASE CALL A MANAGER. machine fucks up taking your cash or miscounts? PLEASE CALL A MANAGER. machine fucks up and charges your debit card twice? PLEASE CALL A MANAGER
>inb4 1 post by these IDs
Jace Allen
Yes, it's same here. Usually there is a sign saying "15 items or less". If you have a full cart you're supposed to go to the human checkout.
Joshua Phillips
The day you see universal basic income you'll know the day the end of the financial system is near
Julian Morgan
There is always a person at the end of the line of self checkout stations whose job is to deal with these issues as they arise.
Alexander Allen
thank god. maybe we can finally eliminate these socialist wage laws once and for all.
Isaac Myers
You still have human cashiers? It must be that Finns prioritized self-checkouts. I've been able to go to markets for two years without having to speak to, or even to look at the eyes of any people while visiting. Glorious.
Joseph Torres
...
Levi Wright
>They are removing HUMAN lanes and bringing in more machines. The plan is for the machines to replace the human lanes all together soon this is how it is already here. there are maybe 20 machine lanes depending on how big the place is, and maybe 3 humans sometimes just for people who are lonely. the human's main job is to stand by the machine lanes and point our which ones are free and help with their admin card when the machine spazzes out
Sebastian Wright
So what you mean to say is that one person can now do the job of 6,8, or 10 cashiers?
Jason Walker
For fuck's sake guys, do you really think our economy is going to tank because of automated checkout? Get a real job you lazy lowlife.
Julian Smith
Raise the minimum wage, they said.
Austin Perez
UBI isn't going to happen. Complete automation will happen after a huge chunk of the population is culled.
Andrew Butler
> me live in city > have had automated checkout for over 5 years in tons of stores
Maybe you should get out more fatass.
Daniel Reyes
I mean your brother should probably get a job somewhere that actually gives an abysmal fuck about their employees anyways
Zachary Walker
Just in time so you can auto purchase things by waving your mark over the scanner.
Levi Allen
Self checkouts have been around a long time. A lot of people don't like using them.
Ryan Watson
Thank you Jews, self checkouts rock!
Connor Jones
cout
William Lopez
Yes, and that's a good thing, because that raises productivity, which allows those 9 other cashiers to get other jobs, or be the assistant to other stores, allowing for 10 times as many stores to be built.
Dominic Butler
My Nig Mart got them 2 months ago, its incredible I mean they always had 6 now they have 18 or so. You can just breeze out of the store instead of smelling the Nig mart customers.
Brayden Rogers
At my Walmart grocery store, there are only two actual cashier lines. The rest (about 10 of them) are self checkout. It's a lot easier tbqh.
Isaiah Garcia
We have a ton of these at my local walmart. As far as i know there hasn't been any reduction in cashiers, they just help keep things running more smoothly and reduce lines.
Noah Edwards
even 10 less than competent cashiers is better than 10 machines. 2 people watching the 10 machines (lets say 4 of which will break) will not be as efficient to the customer as 10 humans. but it will be better for the bottom line which is all companies care about. but don't pretend it's better for "shorter queues" and other crap like that.
>first they came for the cashiers, and I'm not a cashier so I did not speak out >then they came for the bank tellers, and I'm not a bank teller so I did not speak out >then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out
this is how it starts you fucking idiot. I'm just showing you the signs. it will slowly get much worse
yep, cause they fucking suck.
Cooper Sullivan
>My brother works at Wal-mart nobody "works" at wal-mart. they "slave" at wal-mart. also, self-checkouts in wal-mart have been a thing for years now. go to a bigger city once in awhile for that "culture".
Jacob Scott
Simple solution guys. If you don't like it buy from stores that don't use robotic tellers.
Ethan Torres
Been in Tewksbury MA WalMart for months m8. I like 'em, don't have to buy my liube and have some spic sneer at me.
Carter Myers
>the jews will take care of their cattle right?
Dont worry eventually they will send you to Europe a third time to kill off the remaining natives and safe the poor muslims from the evil Nazis
Logan Thomas
I will say that back when I first started seeing the self checkout machines they sucked. They sucked big time. The scale under the bagging area was very sensitive. I felt like if it thought there was as little as one ounce out of place it would spasm. But I haven't had that issue in a long time. I've noticed that they've become way more reliable. What takes me the longest is looking up the stupid codes for fruit and veggies. I not brain dead cashier has the codes memorized after one week on the job, so they're way faster at ringing them up. I don't know why they don't put barcodes on most fruits and vegetables. Better yet put cameras on the machines that can recognize what produce you're trying to buy. And then place the produce on the scale and get charged accordingly.
Also, I don't know why you should even have to go through a checkout... Put a card reader on the shopping carts, and have things get auto rang up as you toss it into the basket. And when you walk out of the store have it charge you. Seems more simple and not very complicated.
Easton Hill
>he thinks automation should be stopped for muh jobs I don't speak out because this is how things should be. You're seriously misusing that poem
Adam Cook
that's not gonna happen because people still cart fulls of stuff, you can't bag your groceries and put them in the same cart you're taking stuff out to scan from. Or maybe you should that would be a really good way to start stealing items.
John Anderson
>mfw i used to work at wallyworld when i was in high school >mfw i know that cashiers get their hours cut if there isnt enough customers to keep them busy >mfw I go to the self checkout every time
Carson Morris
>self checkout machines. >making customer do the work >automation
Brody Foster
Awww look at the poor americans! Diddums!
We have had those for years guys, it's no big deal. They're actually quite convenient.
Oliver Ramirez
I advocate Universal Basic Euthanasia
Adam Reyes
wallyworld is real? is clark griswold also real?
Michael Stewart
Its not leet its leeet.
Robert Hernandez
>wtf Sup Forums told me Maybe stop believing the shit you see here? What are you, 13 years old?
Liam Taylor
Fully automated, luxury, gay, space Communism you mean.
Evan Davis
>world class grows >number of jobs decrease due to automation >hurrr nothing wrong here this is how things should be
William Williams
>first they came for the cashiers, and the cashiers moved on with life and became bank tellers >then they came for the bank tellers, and the bank tellers moved on with life and became me >then they came for me, but I had an entire fucking army of me's at my back and we made ourselves useful and got jobs
Aaron Martin
> this is what minimum wage is all about
Newsflash, if your productivity is $8 an hour, nobody's going to pay you $10 for the privilege of having you around.
But it's futile to even argue the point, because only low-IQ underclass have such a low productivity, that the minimum wage prices them out of the job market and they don't get economic calculation, even on this retard level.
Of course your first reaction is a fancy word for "gibsmedat", i.e. UBI.
Evan Miller
>not living your life based on memes baka
Christian Murphy
these have been around for years op There's a shit ton in nearly every store
Asher Hernandez
working class* I meant
Christopher Anderson
Gone are the day where you have to buy toilet paper and the hot girl is working.
Noah Adams
forcing companies to pay wages at all is socialist wealth redistribution. Back in the days of company scrip people got by just fine.
Ayden Cooper
When you walk out of the store have it charge you. Seems more simple and not very complicated.
I could not agree more. You still require staff near checkouts for theft prevention and customer inquiries anyway. This is typical poor middle management as per usual.
Great, your brother can now work as a machine supervisor and maintain them, that sounds like a promotion to me.
Kayden Bailey
we've had those things since like 10 years ago where I live. all the stores that have still have like 6-10 associate-run lanes open at any time as well.
Henry Hernandez
and as we all know the labour pool is much smaller than the job pool so everything will be completely fine
Jacob Bell
If the west reaches the point where they would cull their own population it means that they had a dramatic change of values. And this in turn means that they already killed everyone else. Cant imagine that the west kills their own native population before genociding and enslaving everyone else first.
Dominic Cruz
>it's fine guys, we'll just fight each other to the death for the few jobs that will be left, things will work out right?
reminds of that bioshock infinite part where the works try to do the work for LESS than the other guy just to get the job
Aaron Lee
so if there are no cashiers whats stopping you from not checking out everything you get?
Andrew Rodriguez
This pisses me off not because people are losing jobs but because I have to do it for them.
Samuel Howard
Well I don't see 90% of the population farming like we used to so I think we should handle it just fine.
Easton Walker
what a letdown
Ian Nelson
how do you figure that? population growth > job pool growth, at some point the system collapses
Anthony Robinson
>we'll just fight each other to the death for the few jobs that will be left Because no one will ever want more stuff, right? We're perfectly content with what we currently have. I for one, would certainly HATE having an indoor pool. That would be awful. Too much stuff already.
Matthew Ross
NIGGERLICIOUS
Gavin Cooper
>population growth > job pool growth Finding a job would be literally impossible today if that was the case, our population has been rapidly expanding ever since the agricultural revolution.
Anthony Hughes
Dude i've had self serving machines in my wallmart since like 2005. What hick state do you live in California? I'm in TN, fucking TN and we have all new buildings.
Luis Collins
>tfw going into teaching. >While knowing I'll probably get replaced by a phone app or something.
Andrew Jones
I've never used the auto check out at Walmart, until last night.
Check out was going smooth until I tried to scan my ExtenZe extra strength, but it failed to scan. Had to ask the little Hispaniola lady to help me scan my dick pills. The lady proceeds to hold the product in the air to view it for all to see. Simply turns it and it scans no problem.
Say thank you and pack up my peni pills.
Hunter Ward
>Finding a job would be literally impossible today if that was the case how about that unemployment rate ?
Easton Thomas
I'd guess electronic tags on everything?
Dominic Martinez
My Walmart here in Idaho has probably 20 or more of em. They're quite nice. And yeah yeah Walmart sucka I get it. I go in for the clearance stuff. Nab some vodka time to time but also find things like a WRT 1900AC v2 router for 60 bucks or a 10" powered Sony subwoofer for 12 bucks. So fuck the meme, gimme self checkout and deals.
Parker Smith
>tfw scanning sweet potatoes as regular white potatoes
Andrew Jones
>work at walmart >watch all your coworkers and friends lose their jobs >they put you in charge of making sure no one steals in the self-checkout for minimum wage >
Samuel Butler
Guess what? Wally World isn't waiting for a $15 minimum wage.
Christopher Kelly
sounds like too much work
Grayson Brooks
Looking pretty good
William Kelly
yeap, make frappe and relax buddy
Thomas Hill
>No one will grow up in poverty >Eat noodles everyday and live in the hood >Not poverty
Joshua Thomas
We currently have the technology to automate most service jobs. Right now, the value of having a person do the job is more than they cost of paying them. If the socialists raise minimum rage beyond inflation like they want, then companies would automate. It's pretty simple retard.
Isaiah Jackson
amazing how before trump was elected it was 20% and now it's 4
William Reed
i have a pre-recorder beeper that mimics the barcode scan input/output sound. so basically i pretend to scan my shit when i just throw it in my bag. since i am a cali cuck they make you bring your own bag, since plastic and brown are 30 cents now. so long story short, i steal items and get away with it.
Jayden Peterson
Cause our min wage is way too high
Evan Flores

Twenty of these machines do the work of two cashiers. And they still take one human to watch over every ten or so.
And there's no checking out with a cart full of groceries. You have to put everything on the scale and cannot put it in your cart. If you have more than a couple bags of stuff, these are not for you.
Here's an idea: Open a couple more lanes with human cashiers.
