He really is an excellent strategist. He's particularly good at hitting people where they're weakest which most conservatives/Republicans are vehemently against doing. Which makes him seem incredibly dirty to Republicans and an absolute devil to liberals that don't see that they're the pot calling the kettle black.
That he will attack liberals the way liberals attack conservatives is what truly makes him infamous to anyone. He doesn't pretend that maintaining some moral high ground where you don't punch below the waist is practical when the other guy is going to fight as dirty as can be.
Some people are wanting to make more of a big deal about Roger Stone and his involvement in the election because they just so despise his tactics of campaigning like a liberal.
Also the documentary actually has a slew of ultra liberal journalists in it, like from the New Yorker, Daily Beast, and Salon that all whine continuously about Roger Stone which makes the movie pretty entertaining. So yeah it's worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet.
