Seriously you were not Kings you would be even worse off than you are in Africa if you didn't come in contact with Arabs who then sold you to white sailors. You had no technology and even the North Africans and Muslims all together only gave us astronomy and didn't go much further than that considering the study of space as a whole not just astronomy expanded well after the moors conquest of Portugal and SOME of Spain.
