One of the favorite insults of the communists is to call all those on the right-wing or left-of-centre who advocate for capitalism "reactionaries," as if the ideology that they are espousing is merely a reaction to the criticisms lobbied at them and a desire to "return" to the "good ol' days."
...but explain to me how gommunists and anarchists aren't the ultimate reactionaries themselves, if the society that they desire is essentially what humanity was like in its hunter-gatherer phase before wypipo started agriculture? How is it not hypocritical for a communist to unironically call their opponents "reactionaries"? Are they not also "reacting" to capitalism?

In truth, traditionalists were evolutionaries. They were building on the blocks of tradition, until revolutionaries tore it down. Revolutionaries got lucky because the industrial revolution cemented their power base.
But there was no permanent revolution, so the old revolutionaries became flaccid conservatives.
The new revolutionaries/"progressives" make no other distinctions other than themselves and those enemies they call reactionaries. It's useful for them because they can just keep lampooning their enemies as never being original, only reacting to their advances.

What is the root word? Reaction. To react is to move without thinking, reflexively. How can one react without thinking? FEELING, is the only answer. So, to be a reactionary has nothing inherently to do with politics. However, because liberals, lefties, and all SJWs, do not think to arrive at their conclusions and instead use their feelings to guide them, they are in fact, reactionaries.
It's the same old thing they have always done. Here is the word. Oh, that word means this? Well, we'll just flip it around and shout the lie loud enough so that it eventually becomes the "truth" perspectively to the masses.
