I don't claim to understand it either, the aluminium theory is just the most convincing I've heard for why it collapsed *at all.* The other thing people bring up is that the cladding was switched from asbestos to (allegedly less effective) fibreglass on all but the lower floors, due to regulatory changes during construction. It's definitely weird and has never been properly explained by any official publication.
