US luxury makers keep trying to make their cars unique and stylish but they turn out butt fucking ugly. See Cadillac and Lincoln. Cadillac ATS is the only one I think looks half decent.

Lincoln makes good looking SUVs though.

Because America has a lot of wealth coming from other sectors, like alcohol, coal, and other technologies. A large wealth means a powerful dollar means more imports since they are cheap compared to local economies. Thus, the USA imports quite a bit.

I had a 330i E46 in high school. The car was solid as fuck. Nothing rattled when you hit bumps, the inside was designed like a cockpit, molded to the driver. American cars in the price point of German cars are often shit. Like sofas on wheels. No tactile road feel from the steering wheel. With the BMW I could tell what the surface of the road was like based on the feel. Unlike American cars, the front tires were very far forward, not tucked way behind the front of the hood. The leather was thick and didn't crack like every American cars nasty poofy leather. You just can't beat the feel of the experience without buying a modern muscle car priced well above $35k.

American cars under $35k are or were unresponsive pieces of garbage that often blow transmissions at 60k miles.
