The real problem with drug use is that most people are ignorant and unwilling to get informed about how best to use them.
A good example is MDMA. Usually well informed people take it once every three months or once a year because they know MDMA is not "safe" in the sense that, say, LSD is "safe". But I've heard of people who take it every week, sometimes even in increasing amounts. They don't even test kit the stuff so they have no idea what they're really taking. The former mistake will make their brains stupid over time. The latter mistake could kill them because on rare occasions there have been extremely toxic drugs included in MDMA presses (like 4-CMA, a known neurotoxin that can cause brain damage at any dose).

MDMA test kits do not work very well at all, if you don't own a lab and a shitload of the substance you want to test then you're never going to be reliably able to figure out if the stuff you got is cut or not.

I've done all types of drugs. 40-60mg of Ambien was a far more intense and pure euphoria than any stimulant or opiate I ever encountered.

I think that the SHIT-drugs are the ones that make you really content with your current situation - counter productive and don't give you any insight (even a fake one) on things like psychedelics.
Benzos, weed, alcohol - weed makes you lazy, alochol fucking sucks and is STILL as damaging as other stuff, benzos are just a no-no territory for me.
Other than weed and alcohol I've tried MDMA and Amphetamines.
MDMA is great, but doing it often will definitely mess your head up, it's a really intense experience and you should save it for 3-4 times a year when it's worth it and so that your body fully recovers.
Amphetamines - Really energetic, didn't warp my headspace. Cleaned my house, studied a lot, couldn't sleep though. I didn't really enjoy it. I was just mega sober, but I was really fucking drunk before I took it and it sobered me up in exactly 20 seconds.
