Some of you have maybe heard of "Sister Charlotte". If you haven't google her. She was a nun in a carmelite catholic convent who managed to escape after 22 years of living in there. In her testimony she tells of the nightmarish place that her convent was: torture, priests raping nuns, suffocating the babies that were born out of impregnation and ditching their bodies inside the convent, underground dungeons where the nuns were kept in cells...
There are many testimonies by different people that tell of similar things. This happened in the 1900s. Do convents like this still exist today in the 21st century?

There are some catholics who know of these things and are fighting it. I say that as a protestant. My father's good friend was an old passionist priest named Justin Garvey. Both of them worked in ministries helping folks who were being oppressed by a cult out of British Columbia. Justin was involved in getting out some of the papers that eventually were vital in exposing the pedophile priesthood. There are really great catholics out there. Sadly it is an ancient system that has become horribly corrupt.

Of course. I too believe there are sincere catholics who want to serve God, BUT the number of good in the church doesn't outweigh the bad. By this I mean, if this stuff is actually STILL going on then that means that RIGHT NOW there are thousands of nuns in these hellhole convents being treated like a piece of trash until they die. As a person who decided to explore the catholic sphere, as well as other denominations mind you but not as much, I ask you over and over again to just call yourself a Christian. You don't have to go to Church, you don't have to pray the invented Hail Mary, you don't have to shut down your brain for dogma after dogma. I went through Modern Catholicism and the ABANDONED Traditional Catholic Cult. Catholicism is a perversion, it is a pharisee trap for Christians, just become a Christian, don't put yourself through the mistakes that make christianity weak today. Nor Catholicism, nor Orthodoxy, nor Protestantism is valid, you have to be non-denominational as was Christ. Use your brain, evaluate statements. May God help us all.
