Finnish citizens given universal basic income report lower stress levels

>Finland has been giving 2,000 of its citizens an unconditional income for the last five months and some are already seeing the benefits, reporting decreased stress, greater incentives to find work and more time to pursue business ideas.
>The scheme is the first of its kind in Europe and sees participants receive €560 (£473) every month for two years.
>Recipients do not have to demonstrate that they are seeking employment and they are not required to regularly report to authorities to prove they still need the payment, as is the case with standard unemployment benefits. They can spend the money however they like.
>Under the pilot, if a participant finds work, they will continue to receive the stipend, removing one of the limitations of current welfare systems - the disincentive to find work.
>The trial is one measure introduced by the centre-right government to tackle Finland's unemployment problem.
Juha Jarvinen, an unemployed young father in a village near Jurva, western Finland, was picked at random to receive the payment, starting in January this year. He told the Economist that, unlike when he was receiving standard unemployment payments, he is now actively seeking work. He had previously been offered a few part-time positions but taking them would make no sense, since it would jeopardise his welfare payments.
>“I’m an artist and entrepreneur. Sometimes I’m too active, I don’t have time to stop,” he said.
>“We think it takes social policy in the wrong direction,” Ilkka Kaukoranta, chief economist of the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK), told Bloomberg.

I know there are test cases of Universal Basic Income, but this seems like a outstanding development. What are your thoughts?

The Finnish welfare system has so many issues that this is not really representative.
Is it better than the current bloated and bureaucratic model in Finland? Definitely.
Is it a good model? I slightly doubt it.

I think basic income is the future.

I think more minorities + low IQ people will have more children because of it.

I think AI will prevent a low IQ population from harming society.

The future is AI controlled and it will be fine, even if 90% of the west becomes Muslim / non-white.

AI is our only hope.

>two years pass
>Unemployed (((tanned Finns))) scream and cry and demand they keep getting gibs

fuck, fuck youtube and fuck UBI

>Being able to take small amount of work without losing your benefits lowers stress
Fixed that one for you.

I do not understand how people outside the system are too thick headed to get this one.
They didn't have to work to survive before. This changes that system so that they receive less money, but they can take small jobs or try entrepreneurship without losing said benefit, which was rather large to begin with.

What happens when the AI inevitably turns on us though?

Finland doesn't exist

>This changes that system so that they receive less money, but they can take small jobs or try entrepreneurship without losing said benefit
sounds like a good way to encourage them to get out of the hole they're in, right?

This meme needs to die.

hmm

excellent meme taste

kys rape baby

Gonna brb in 20 minutes.

>Conservatives are ridiculing a program literally developed for modern economies by Conservative superstar Milton Friedman, simply because A) it was in Finland and B) it sounds like liberal welfare to those that have no training in economics. In reality, this is the mainstream right-wing alternative to traditional welfare programs that arguably incentivize remaining unemployed.

How is dangerous AI a meme?

If you think it's so easy to make safe AI, Google will hire you tomorrow. It's the single most important problem humans will ever face, if we get it wrong, we all die.

It is fucking dangerous being the 2nd most intelligent species on the planet. I personally do not think we can survive a super AI.

>Friedman

he is a cunt, conservative or not don't get fooled by the noose

How to tell someone is a retard

>universal basic income
>resource based economy
>venus project

Perkele suomi isänmaa!

>he only started seeking work after being given more free shit
If there wans't a welfare state aka communism he would have been forced to look for work instead of being a lazy leech.
Socialism kills.

It can be beneficial for some but some people are just ungrateful or slob fucks and simply don't deserve it.

We recently had an article in which some of these people in this program were interviewed and one of them was bitching how he doesn't know what to do with all that money and another said she likes it because now she can take a break from job hunting and maybe get back into looking for one later this year.

What happens when the 90% shitskins turn on us

Fuck off kike

Not sure if you were being a braindead typical fascist or not, but, just because some women look good in a mini skirt doesn't mean all women should wear them.
