What the fuck is up with these things?

What the fuck is up with these things?

I know prefab tool sheds and the like have been on the market for as long as I've been alive but I've noticed places selling this type of shit have popped up all over where I live (in the south, but somewhat in Appalachia) in the past couple of years.

Is this about the tiny home thing? I thought that was a hippie meme. Is it like the new trailer for the lower classes or some shit? I don't get it, I've never seen one used as a dwelling or know anyone living in one, but someone has to buying things for some reason. I've never seen them used in any capacity outside of as tool sheds but people get the ones with roll up garage doors for that purpose.

The fuck is the market for these buildings?

>Is this about the tiny home thing?

Yes. Roasties see these on HGTV and think they are cute.

If they were just called cottages, no one would give a fuck. Call them "Tiny Homes" and people line up around the block.

honestly i'd prefer getting half an acre of land outside of town and living in one of these instead of a shitty city apartment

cuck shed

The people of Appalachia have been living in sheds for hundreds of years.

You mean cucksheds?

Im sure you can find discussion of that on reddit, not here.

It sounds like a compromise between a "cuckshed" and a real house, but I'd ideally like to build a little loft-space above a garage workshop then have all of that on 15-25 acres of land.

>work on muh shitbox + muh project car all day
>go upstairs, heat up dinner, go to sleep
>go off-roading or shooting innawoods whenever I want

something like pic related, I guess. Only bigger.

better than living with yr parents

this.

i'm working toward it, actually. with enough land surrounding it, no one will even know you're there.

That's what i think when I see them lol

Never seen it desu, but i dont have any reason to drive out where the hillbillies live and check out their spreads

But, one decent hurricane and your house flips over. Thing needs buttresses.

it would still be comfy to have city water+sewer and not deal with a well and septic tank

>Is it like the new trailer for the lower classes or some shit?
No; they're the trailers for the middle classes.

Well water is literally higher quality than some cities' water, what the fuck are you on about m'lad

Don't do it, Ive heard story's about cannibalism and breed queens...

Agreed I'd much prefer to have a lot outdoor space than indoor space because gardenfag. I'd much rather do several adobe/clay whatever structures than a wooden shed like that.

>finally make tinder profile
>QT is down to slob knob
>invite her back to your place
>sees OP house
>turns 360 and drives away

The only middle class people I know that live in trailers are old boomer couples who dont give a fuck, and college students (around Auburn university for example the trailer parks are just students who didnt want to live in apartments while in school)

Must be the first time you've seen a cuckshed.

>fucking ONS' at your home where you live
Why? Do you want strangers knowing where you live? get an airb&b when you want to fuck some strange, my dude.

Less risk of her coming to your house one day for crazy-woman-reasons

I've only seen these in lots for sale, never actually being used.

People that actually use them tend to be DIY types that don't buy or can't afford prefab stuff. Really lazy people often use chinese made custom shipping containers, these start at 1k$.

They would not work... Average American too fat to stay inside

Mobile homes are made from shit material.
Those sheds are made with real 2x4. You can build them up just like a real house (drywall, electrical, plumbing). Mobile homes are 1x2's and thin panelling- they even use shit wall receptacles because a standard style is too big.
I have one like OP's pic, but with a lofted ceiling on 15 acres.
Well water doesn't have fluoride or chlorine or estrogen.
97% of the water las Vegas casinos pull out of the reservoir is cleaned and returned to the lake. Only biological waste is removed. Estrogen from birth control pills is still present. So is all that medication for ADD, heart conditions, etc etc.
I'd prefer not to have prozac in my soup...

Instead of paying (((rent))) in some shithole apartment, I now own land and my cabin- and it actually costs less. I can actually save up to build a dream home.
I've had 70+ mph winds and my cabin didn't flinch.
Mobile homes have issues because they're lightweight and 3 feet off the ground. These sheds have the same weight to square footage as a normal house once they're finished inside.
And they make anchors you know...

>I've never seen one used as a dwelling or know anyone living in one,
If I didn't have a wife and kids, I would certainly have one of these on my 10 acres out in the woods. Yes, it would be my primary residence.

The home is where I sleep and pay bills. The rest pretty much takes place outdoors.

trailer parks seem like a better idea...

septics can be very expensive depending on the district you build in. a connection to municipal sewer is desirable in those cases. well water can be superior to municipal water services, again depending on where you build.

just do your research and make the best decision for where you are. there are a lot of options for the dedicated off-grid builder these days.

People have been living in houses smaller than that for most of human history.

Your confusion and rage leads me to conclude that you are 12 years old.

Gotta be careful with nitrates and stuff if your plot is or was anywhere near a farm too.

Adobe is great, no expenses for main building materials if the plot is chosen wisely.

I think so. Welcome to overpopulation. I read recently that real estate is the ultimate investment, and that seems ever more sharply true to me.

The other solution is pic related.

It works in cute kitsch lifestyle sort of way. If you ever start making decent money, which means you will start buying random stuff for fun and comfort, you will want the big house again.

The tiny houses are very well marketed though.

No one is building new houses so the resources are being used to continue wasteful consummation. This way the lumber prices stay locked in instead of decreasing in value.

fucks sake have mercy on us spergs - 360 you end up where you start. 180 is flipping about-face.

Its part of an old farm.
Hasn't actually been farmed for 30+ years and it returned to the natural pine forest state.
It has cleansed itself of any toxins.

I plan on getting one like this, it will be small and well built, a home that will cost less than 30,000 and I have more money to buy 10-20 acres of land, and be able to afford a nicer vehicle

Also you can filter out women with a house like this, the gold diggers will be turned away

um. secure garages, storage sheds, and workshops exist, user.

a single large building is not the only option.

1 small dwelling for sleeping, meals, and chilling.
1 garage/workshop for building, wrenching and hobbies
1 secure storage shed for valuable toys, guns, etc.

houses need to be built to expensive standards. garages and storage sheds do not.

>have to be a hippie to live in a small house

some people will never be able to afford their own home and renting is for cucks. so a tiny house on your own piece of land is the next best thing to purchasing a full size house. plus less in maintenance than a regular house. lower bills, heating etc

I've been building these things for the past 10 years. This building in particular is most likely an office for an outdoor project, or something similar. They're getting more popular because you can make a fuck ton of money off them. Mostly just for storage, offices, classrooms shit like that. Easy to build, cheap to produce, and you can charge a whole lot if you trim it out correctly. Srsly though are you actually retarded? You really don't understand how useful little portable buildings can be? Lol.

adobe doesn't work anywhere in USA but the southwest

They are often used in allotments here in germany. You can store gardening tools there and can have a cozy warm place in case the weather goes bad.

I have a nice 3 bedroom 200 sq. metre home but I have one of those on a corner of my property (with fibre internet connexion, wide screen TV and playstation 4) because sometimes it's just nice to have a place to retreat to when the wife is yelling at me.

Adobe works in England, but yeah gotta take extra care plastering & do the roof right.

You'd be surprised. Better check.

show me an adobe house in England

...

unironically this. if i had less irrational pride, id move to one. ive driven through a few before, if yo ulook past the shitty infrastructure and unpaved roads, its a bit cozy.

The main buyers are guys in there 30s to 50s who are divorced and lost the house to their newly remarried ex-wives

Better than an apartment or moving back in with your parents

only stupid fucking niggers and white trash live anywhere near where a hurricane might occur.

if you're white, you're worried about whether the roof will collapse under a few feet of snow, not whether it would withstand a hurricane.

I like the idea of an invite only trailer park for people who prefer to live cheaper and smaller without the trailer trash.
Its a good idea ruined by low income people who are often degenerates.

look into cattle dips ma dude. i do phase i esa, phase iis, done a couple on some ranches in the las vegas / utah area. the thing about chlorinated solvents is that they *dont go away. anything chlorinated is long-lived, meaning itll last longer than our lifetimes. also check into the depth to groundwater, if its at least 40', you got nothin to worry about

I lived in one back in college
Meh
Too many kids using the communal property as a playground

I'd much rather have one of these shacks on a secluded chunk of land

My old man built one and uses it as a man cave/tool shed combo.

comfy

well yeah, but the thing about land is that it costs more than not having land.

Smaller homes are easier and cheaper to heat, cool and maintain. Only an idiot would buy a big house that sits empty all day while they're out earning the money to pay for it.

>What the fuck is up with these things?
They're just a symptom of Keynesian economic policy and housing bubbles created by The Federal Reserve.

Cob does

>(((stop living within your means for a first home goy)))

thank your for sage advice greatest ally

>divorced and lost the house to their newly remarried ex-wives
They should have made it very clear to their wives what "til death do us part" means.

Yeah this dude is right. I meant Cob, almost the same thing, but my bad. There's a tradition there in Wales etc.

youtu.be/TaKqPqBtXIM

i saw a graph of the mode housing price trend. it's pretty funny how fucked we are

This data is really attention grabbing.
While the cost of homes is high, interest rates are still historically low. I think a lot of young people are being priced out because of an inability to save enough for a down payment.
Do you think this will correct with increasing interest rates? Or is the housing market likely to stay at this hard-to-attain high for a while?

I love that my grandma invested her money mostly in land.
Started with a small spot in the 1950s.
130 acres here now and another couple spots where her parents lived back in the day a few towns over

Depends on how much money you have.

In the suburbs, having a 1500 to 3000 square foot house with at least a mower shed and garage (which is often attached to the house) is par for the course in the USA.

If you want three tiny houses, consider getting one much bigger house with one outbuilding. Less irritating in the winter when you need to shovel snow and slightly more convenient in general.

These posts are either not real opinions ,or are literally autistic manchildren under 18. I'm leaving this place specifically because of this thread, you're all fucking stupid. Goodbye.

>Is it like the new trailer for the lower classes or some shit?

Basically. It's for millennial hipsters who can't afford a conventional home, but don't want the stigma of living out of a trailer or camper.

>Or is the housing market likely to stay at this hard-to-attain high for a while?
a good guess would be "No", assuming boomers die off and/or have to sell eventually. the flip side is that if we keep allowing chinks to buy american/canadian properties, then "Yes".

if boomers find money elsewhere in the world, we're boned

that actually looks comfy as fuck for a robot like me..shame the materials are probably north korea tier

People think they look cute, but its just a stupid meme. No one actually has them but morons. A RV or trailer is way more practical. Total meme.

Yes. I'm surprised more people don't realize this.

>not wanting to buy land and build your own home with your own two hands.

If all you do is sleep in your house, then these things are the most efficacious choices.

You can also kinda put them wherever you want, which is great. They're very efficient and you can stack them up in sets of like 3-4 and have a natural atrium going.

destiny taught me that in the game pubg , theres a thing called a fuck boi shack

>not paying less than 4K for a comfortable house large enough for you and a woman.
>not living in an off the grid cool and house
>not living in ting house while building largest house next door as you slowly save up
>not buying cheap land and throwing a sturdy little house on it immediately
>tiny houses are stupid
What the duck

Sad most people have no idea USDA loans exist which have no down payment

Supposed to be for rural development but huge chunks of the country qualify that are in the suburbs

Also other fha low down payment loans most people would qualify for if it's the first home

Tiny homes were more off the grid types than hippies.

I agree that its a matter of time before the boomers die out and sell. I doubt they'd hand their houses down in most cases.
Any idea why wages stagnated but housing costs kept rising so much? It seems irrational.

I'm okay with this.

youtube.com/watch?v=XYV0qATsyts

It's small, cheap, comfy...um...yeah I guess that's the appeal, as far as I'm aware. Lotta faggots like it, but it seems to be a decent idea in and of itself. Nothing wrong with modest living.

That is troubling

Thanks for the info user.
I'm still a ways off from being able to afford a house, but I'd rather have it than not. If nothing else just rent it out and let it pay for itself then multiply.

Have you used those kinds of loans?

> USDA loans
while the majority of land in america would be applicable, tak ea look at the maps. im not sure of the exact percentage, but a gut feeling of 90% of people dont live in the USDA loan areas. its certainly nice for rich folks to buy up land though, as are the forest service loans or grants or thwatever, as long as you plant hardwoods

I'm curious if people will answer honsetly.
For those people who are talking shit about these sheds/cabins:
>do you own a home?
>do you rent an apartment?
>do you live with your parents?

>buy 3 or 4 side by side for still less than a regular house
>renovate them using money you didnt spend on a house into one interconnected structure
>now have personalized complex with more living space than you know what to do with
>out away from shitty urban centers

These will destroy the housing market

Last post. NO ONE LIVES IN THESE. They're for storage, or offices you absolute morons. They're portable cheap buildings. I refuse to believe you fucks are this stupid. For fucks sake you think you can save the white race if you're this oblivious as to what this building could be? We're all doomed. Good luck to all of you with shit like this floating around in your head.

The forum is like finding a diamond in a haystack. You have to sift through shitposting, autism, trolling, moronic comments from literal morons just to find a diamond like my post you are reading right now. The lack of a thumbs-up system makes you think for yourself, and prevents you from getting angry when an autistic post gets put on the front page as "best" like on Reddit. Stick around, friend. The fact you hated those posts shows you are a decent person. I think they just like to throw around the word "cuck" because they don't know what it means, or they do know what it means a d they are using it too much when they first discovered it, and will quickly drop it like a McDonalds toy.
Captcha: toy train set, find train.

Uh oh

Yeah I'm sure it comes down to the state
From the southeast and all the areas I'm looking to move to after college would qualify but I won't be near any huge cities

here it is

the fuck boi shack

I don't live "in" an eligible area, but everything on the other side of I-95 is eligible, and that's only 2 miles away.

Neat.

Its the appropriation of poverty op

They make cozy little hunting cabins tho

test

There are 2 middle age guys that live in similar little shacks walking distance from here
So yes, people do live in them

I live in one.
So does one of my neighbors.
I'm in it right now.
Its no different from a studio apartment, except I own it and the 15 acres that it sits on.

Now get back in your moms basement.

Pic related is literally my dream. So simple yet so far away... Be a US citizen. Live innawoods, sit on my porch, drink a beer... cozy fire. Crickets chirping. Do some shooting with my luger .22 while having a few burgers on the grill. Sniffing in the natural air.

Goddamn, someone pls give me a job in the US somewhere so i can realize it.

Jews.

btw fuck luger, type... ruger ofc. Sigh... but im just a cucked disarmed toothpaste.

Read this post then kys.

>People have been living in houses smaller than that for most of human history.
Yeah, but they had the entire nature around them at their disposal. When you have that, of course the actual house can be small.

No you don't, and you won't prove it either. Get the fuck out of here man. Mods deleted one of my posts too. This place is fucked. Out of the 18,000 our company has built, ONE person bought one to live in, and he killed himself.
