Its a misleading statistic. Young women their age the generation before were already married. Therefore, their "wealth"/"income" is based on the family sum. They are not marrying at that age anymore, and so do not have the same unit. It is really a poor comparison. These stats are always based on the family unit, and in the case of a single person, the family unit is just that one individual. You see the same bullshit stats for blacks in America. 70%+ divorce rate means the average black is a single unit family, and therefore will never have the same wealth as a 2-person income white family.

Yes and no. STEM degrees can be complete scams, particularly if they are awarded from any old school. The fact of the matter is, the drive to include more women and minorities in STEM degrees (asians not included. Seriously, if I were asian I would be so outraged about being the only minority that receives absolutely no help.) forced universities to lower their standards, which aptly lowers the value of said degree. That being said, STEM degrees from a uni with a highly reputable STEM program (Both Cal Poly's, MIT, Cal Tech, Virginia Tech, Wash U, ect.) still hold immense value. Boeing, for example, recruited straight of my graduated class.

Thing is, it's not a gender issue, in fact, millennial men suffer from these exact same issues, even in the tech industry, usually due to male h1b visa workers.
Overall, millennials have less representation in the workforce due to worthless degrees as the companies who'd hire them flee the excessive taxes of the country, and by the time they get those degrees, they have zero work experience that older generations already have cultivated that make them more productive in even the most menial entry level jobs.
Older generations up to retirement age have more representation in the workforce than millennials and that has absolutely nothing to do with gender.

It is jarring how the company I work at is divided by gender. I am an engineer at a company in the defense industry. The first two floors of our building are various types of engineers, programmers, quality, system analysts, technical management, and electricians. Almost everyone is male. There is one female mechanical engineer, one female analyst, and one female electrician in the whole company. The third floor is HR, purchasing, contracts, and upper management. Aside from the upper management women dominate almost as utterly in that floor as men do in the other two.
Also racially divided. The first two floors are practically all white, asian, and hapa. The top floor has mostly women of all races.
