When has Africa ever been a nice place to live

There seems to be more of a return to Africa these days. I was in Ethiopia and met a Greek family and said more will go to Ethiopia for better chances than staying in Greece. Re-colonization when?

This is Lourenço Marques in the 70's: youtube.com/watch?v=xqyWMVc9Gus&t=125s

Now they call it Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, take your own conclusions...

Is this the continuation of the comfy /uminho/ bros?

nah virtually all left. There are a lot of Portuguese that moved back in the last decade or so though. Most Portuguese in Angola and Mozambique went back to Portugal in 1975. However some(about ~250,000) moved to South Africa.

There's about ~200,000 Portuguese in Angola now that moved there since the 2000's. Then another 50,000 that moved to Mozambique.

Angola and Mozambique were certainly a lot nicer, but the standard of living for white Portuguese was never as high as it was in South Africa or Rhodesia.

Pic related is photos of Portuguese leaving Angola. The country instantly collapsed and fell into civil war once handed over to blacks. It was communists vs western backed conservatives.

needs to be edited to be Portugal + Rhodesia + South Africa desu

>tfw those pages in Bitter Harvest where Ian Smith basically says he has a man-crush on Salazar
>words to the effect of, "I have no doubt that had Salazar survived [or maybe had Carnation Revolution not happened], Rhodesia would have survived"
>when you research the portuguese economy in the context of the colonial wars and realise that the (((burgers))) and (((commies))) started the war as a means to drag Salazar into the (((global financial system))) to fund the war machine, which drained Portugal and ultimately destroyed the regime
>you will never operate in southern africa as part of the last stand of the white men

FUCK

To what extent did the Cold War influence the Colonial War?

How much did the Americans fucked up our colonies?

Why would America support commies?

Doesn't make sense

Almost all "Liberation Movements" were funded by communists in former colonies. And certainly so in Rhodesia, Angola, Mozambique, and South Africa.

America was pro-Portugal for the most part because of their domino idea. They were against colonialism but saw it as less of a threat as communism so they almost always backed western allies. There were many secret operations by the CIA etc to support RENAMO and other operations against communists.

Soviets and Chinese are who fucked up your colonies, not America.

>WW2 USRR
America is a communist country.
Capitalism in america is a joke, it works because america invented computers
and are now using the digital currency to bump their lies about being a capitalist country.

USSR sorry

This. and Cuba as well.

why are they going back?

They didn't support the same parties, which is why after we left the colonies devolved into civil war.

>America was pro-Portugal for the most part
Yes, until Kennedy became President.

>muh racism and colonialism

Jews have been running our foreign policy for a very long time now.

>living in Africa
this is crazy talk

To me, Africa is the saddest continent on the planet, just seeing the remains of a civilisation built by whites but destroyed by blacks. Just makes me realise how people take our 1st world countries for granted and don't appreciate the greatness of western culture, history has enough evidence what will happen when the blacks move in.

The economy of Angola was doing exceptionally well after 2008 or so. There is a huge amount of oil in the country so many Portuguese worked in supporting this sector and associated businesses. There's an equal amount of Chinese in Angola now too.

The same case for Mozambique, a booming economy with growth rates between 5-10%. Much of it is tied to natural gas.

the same thing happened to Gaul after the Fr*nks moved in
