If the Pharisees who were experts in Scriptures, if they truly knew God's Heart, they would recognize and accept Jesus is the Son of God (The Messiah). Instead, they had their own version of God in their mind (i.e. an idol) and chose to follow that instead. They died in their sins as a result.
It is historically documented Jesus walked upon this Earth 2,000 years ago and people came face-to-face to Jesus. Some people accepted Jesus as the Son of God and believed upon His Name. Some people didn't care or were lukewarm. Some people rejected Him. Some people hated Him so much that they ended up crucifying Him. Even one of Jesus' disciples betrayed Him and now he is in hell.
Everybody has decisions to make: to kill or not to kill, to love or not to love, to sin or not to sin. There are many gods out there, many -isms, many ideas, many religions. What is Truth?
These decisions that come across everyone is similar to what Adam and Eve had to go through whether or not to obey God or disobey God and eat of the forbidden fruit. If you really think about it.

Hey fellas, I need some prayers if you don't mind. I've got a heroin addict brother that won't stop stealing me and my moms identities, harassing us and he even tried to kill my mom recently. Of course we don't have any proof and the cops aren't interested. I'm working close to 70 hours a week to pay all me and my moms bills because she can't work anymore after what he did to her. I've been really depressed lately because of it and drinking way too much. I haven't eaten in 48 hours from hangovers and stress and lost a ton of progress I was making getting /fit. I would suggest reading a gospel. Most people say John, because John focuses on the face of Jesus, the Eagle, the Son of God. However, if you like reading in a linear fashion, Luke put everything written in good order, aka chronologically. John skips around a lot. I'd also recommend the New KJV, or the ESB, or even the KJV if you want to read ye olde English.
