If deus ex came out today would (((they))) shut it down?

it's been known for hundreds of years

It was created by (((Warren Spector)))

It'd be review bombed into hell by left-leaning game reviewers, which are all of them.

The game is only critically acclaimed because it came out before these things were relevant. Reviewers passed off the story as "stupid silly conspiracy theories" and focused more on the gameplay.

Little did they know, most of what this game talked about became notable 15~ years later. There's still more to come, since the game takes place in 2052.

Not even ~15 years, the game was released on 2000, there wasn't any twin towers in the background because they were destroyed in a terrorist attack.

They've been at it for centuries.

this video is required viewing IMO. If anyone knows of a better copy, please let me know.

The original Deus Ex is the most red-pilled video game ever made. Its not even close.

It'd be neutered into boring nonsense with no real world political and economic parallels and predictions like with what Eidos Montreal did with Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.

Reading a book every now and then helps.

>How did they know?

Fuck off, OP. Talk of a united Europe has constantly been in formal diplomatic talks and major international gatherings since the end of World War 2. You need to start reading books.

Protocols of the Elders of Zion has been out public for a long time

It opens with you going into the Statue of Liberty, which you learn was blown up by UNATCO and blamed on terrorists to create justification for a constant global war.

...

great game

wew
they knew what globalism is
what are the odds
those game developers, they're not autists who play dota2 all day and discovered globalism exists while on Sup Forums browsing memes

>Years before using "memes".
>years before weaponized memes, the very concept of them
I want to be sedated. Its too much

Because even at that time, we all knew what was happening, and everyone just called us crazy. The story was a harsh possible reality based on all the known conspiracy theories and they mostly turned out to be correct.

because deus ex is one of the best games ever mechanically and narratively (not a real word)

Anti-globalism was actually a pretty big leftist cause at the turn of the millennium.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memetics

>The story was a harsh possible reality based on all the known conspiracy theories and they mostly turned out to be correct.
Well, most people who were into it thought it was going to be significantly cooler and less lame.

it also predicted how the news and media has been terrorism 24/7 since 9/11. In-game, the news on TV is full of headlines about terrorism, the news bulletins, everything. That seems normal nowadays, but supposedly it wasn't a concern to most people pre-9/11.
Admittedly, I was too young when 9/11 happened to remember what news was like before it or what people worried about, but it makes sense.

>yfw you realize Alex Jone's "Info War" tag is just a normie friendly version of Meme War

Pretty much every RATM-listening guy with a Che T-shirt was against globalism, and especially global capitalism, corporatism and that kind of stuff.

This started waning in the early 00s, and was buried completely at the time of Occupy Wall Street, it turned into full-on SJW bullshit.

To be fair, if you actually write down the plot/world elements of Deus Ex it's pretty fucking silly, but the supplementary writing and worldbuilding overwhelm the inherent silliness of joining with the Illuminati to fight the MJ12 conspiracy that secretly controls the UN (also the Knight Templars are roundabout involved somehow).

well islamic terrorism wasn't as big of a threat pre 9/11. Of course there was terrorist attacks from 70's all the way up but the media would have realised how glued to the screen people get when a terrorist attack happens.
suppy and demand

Amazing redpill

UNATCO?

>To be fair, if you actually write down the plot/world elements of Deus Ex it's pretty fucking silly, but the supplementary writing and worldbuilding overwhelm the inherent silliness of joining with the Sup Forumsto fight the Jews conspiracy that secretly controls the UN (also the secret societes are roundabout involved somehow)

Yeah, very silly and unrealistic

I have a personal theory that it waned because the immigration debate forced the left's hand; you can't simultaneously decry sweatshops for exploiting the world poor and exalt sub-minimum wage labor for illegal immigrants as preferable to what was available at home. Also the representatives of gutterpunk anti-capitalism were pretty uninspiring and politically useless; Adbusters isn't rousing any tankies or helping any serious policy/campaign efforts.

For all the talk about how feminism/multiculturalism/LGBT is an extension of Marxism I hear, left-liberals are pretty damn comfortable with capitalism. I remember my dad, a liberal English professor who opposed Bush during 9/11, being accepting of sweatshops on similar grounds and sympathizing with the bank trying to repossess a family farm in some movie whose name I forget.

WHAT IS THE FRENCH REVOLUTION. HOLY SHIT LEARN SOME REAL HISTORY.

Anyone with open eyes knew.

There's really no undoing nowadays, rather how much damage can be mitigated.

As soon as the UN came along (and similar organizations and agendas immediately after WW2), it was over in regards to stopping it.

Unabomber tried in his own way, but no one has taken up the reigns fully. Trump will still be and is a globalist.

> tfw that's exactly the world that existed in Deus Ex: Invisible War

>For all the talk about how feminism/multiculturalism/LGBT is an extension of Marxism I hear, left-liberals are pretty damn comfortable with capitalism
Well, liberalism (or neoliberalism, or modern crony capitalism or however you want to call it) is a Hegelian synthesis between communism and capitalism, in which you eventually get the worst of both worlds.

I forgot who said it, I've seen it in an interview, some of our local geopolitical analysts or writers probably, but his point was that the west is walking the "dark footsteps of communism", the implication being that communism had both dark and light footsteps, but what capitalism is introducing is only the dark. I don't know how to translate this better.

Ironically, even the supporters of this "capitalism" will ask themselves what the fuck were they thinking when it reaches the later stages, it's barely at 80% now. China has gone furthest in privatizing the commons, so you still have all those lovely things (like the Sesame system) to introduce, before it trickles down to us. Sadly, we also get some things skipping the west completely and arriving here first.

>a liberal English professor who opposed Bush during 9/11, being accepting of sweatshops on similar grounds
As soon as it went from "BURN THE SWEATSHOPS" to "actually, it's a complex issue, let me show you these academic studies..." it was over.

Yeah but he might be like the Michael Savage of vidyagame jews. Even though the original didn't touch the JQ (obviously), it still hit on almost every other redpill, even false flags

It seems silly because Ion Storm used the names and concepts of "real" conspiracies in the game. It looks ridiculous mashing them all together like that, but they did it with a purpose. It lends an air of paranoia and conspiracy to everything.

Even the writers and producers didn't fully know the reality they were working on.

Most of them are full on SJWhores today.

They sought out to make a game about wacky conspiracies in a dystopian future, with your avatar JC (Jesus Christ) fighting the evil behind them.

And we're in that world today with no JC (Jesus Christ) to save us.

that's how dissimulation works,

become/fund your opposition and you'll have no opposition.

> be me
> rave about Deus Ex to friends
> finally get my buddy to play it
> he doesn't get past the first level because it doesn't play like a typical run-and-gun FPS
> 15+ years later
> I tell him Human Revolution is amazing, he should play it
> he gets it cheap and starts it
> plays 20 minutes before stopping and complaining that the switch between first person to third person is "disorienting"
> hasn't touched it since

>tfw there are literal "meme war veterans"
War... has changed

I played Human Revolution and while it sort of barely touched on some things the normies should know, but it dovetails into this theory that some/I have that the illuminati is basically a meme that acts as a strawman for the elites/TPTB/the (((chosen))), so the normies can have their cursory redpills but they don't really know jack shit
>e.g: the facebook "woke" types who say things like "bro its the illuminati, theyre the ones behind the private prison industry to keep weed illegal bro" or "dude brah its the illuminati who wants us in all these wars", etc.

That sounds about right, it chucks around the names you'd see Dale Gribble use but the actual contents of the world are semi-grounded cyberpunk. It would be like if I wrote a Clancy-esque military thriller but made everyone involved a courtly monarchy with fantasy names.

I'd say a good bit of the modern left are people who don't get worked-up over Soviet atrocities but accept that communism never really worked out; they have a burning hatred for fascism and its ideals and a resigned "yeah sure kid" dismissiveness for communism. The "it's a complex issue" retreat for sweatshops is accepting it as the least bad possibility, recognizing concerted efforts or revolution lifting them out of poverty as lost causes. You can't save them with communism, international aid doesn't do much and backfires in some cases, Iraq BTFO'd the idea of military intervention to save people from dictators, what is left but global trade and maybe institution-building?

People going "muh Illuminati" are useful to have for the globalists and nation destroyers, because it's a premise that you can't fight.

You can fight the people that go to international meetings and vote in favor for things (UN, for example) and the politicians of our countries that vote in favor of these things at home.

They don't want us to know that we can fight them.

BLM, ANTIFA and whatnot are all useful idiots for the globalists.

Your friend has shit taste in games. Human Revolution is one of the best games of the last generation.

HR's handling of the Illuminati as a front group for rich guys who otherwise constantly bicker is pretty much how the real thing would work.

how do i play this game bros?

do i have to pay for it or what?

stops people from focusing on organized crime, feral nogs destroying cities, general social decay because grand narrative of "terrorism" distracts.

>"bro its the illuminati, theyre the ones behind the private prison industry to keep weed illegal bro"

You hit the nail on the fucking head. It is imperative we infiltrate these Facebook groups and drop the real redpills.

the illuminati have been a goofy meme since at least the 60s
it is the dad rock of memes, really

Exactly, if by doing so you had an artistic motivation to make the player feel a certain way about the characters. Games (and books and movies and everything with a narrative) do this all the time.
He's currently spending his weekends on For Honor, complete with constant match timeouts and glitches. So yeah, you could say that.

Bill Gates probably has different aims than George Soros, but I don't doubt their activities & (some) goals overlap. You've got a point.

I mean you can pirate it if you want but it's $1.39 on Steam

WAR NEVER CHANGES REEEEEE

Do you think we are all on that FEMA list??

the influence of a book with talking dolphins and a scene where the illuminati literally torture a man with cuckold pornography of his wife, that was written by a couple of potheads, is pretty funny

iirc some schizo dude named Noid held up a domino's with a gun and demanded one of his books, and was the reason they stopped using The Noid

>How did they know?

come on, dude.

They're not stories.

>WAR NEVER CHANGES REEEEEE

The NWO has been known about for centuries man.

based greek knows the deal.

We're all on the Bad Goy list

remember the 6 gorillian americans?

>tfw we won the meme war

I really thought that after we escaped the excesses of Senator Lieberman, First Lady Hillary, and Jack Thompson crusading against videogames that things would calm the fuck down and devs would realize those censorship calls don't matter, especially in an age of digital distribution. GTA:SA's Hot Coffee was a warning I suppose.

Why do so many fucking devs cater to these SJWs?

I loathe the proposed solutions. Chaos, neo-feudalist slavery, or true and perfect dictatorship/communism slavery.

The NYC skyline in Deus Ex was missing the Twin Towers.

Twin Towers fell in 2001
Deus Ex came out in 2000

can you imagine if hillary won?

we literally avoided a dark timeline. trump winning didnt just save the US, it saved the planet.

ALL countries would be fucked by a hillary regime.

Dark age isn't pure chaos. It's actually the most anti-globalist option available. Remember, only global communication and surveillance technology is being taken out, kind of like shutting down the internet. Society doesn't collapse that quickly.

are you fucking stupid?
does no one bother to search for things on the internet or read a history book before asking stupid fucking questions here?

Apparently they just mashed together a bunch of conspiracy theories and were right on the mark.

deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Order_Church

I don't like to think about it. We'd probably be gearing up towards the war escalation and economic crash phase, with preemptive disarmament starting to take place amongst the well regulated.

No twin towers. In a game that's story focuses around a government conspiracy.

the longer you drag it out the less chance we have of winning

I know of a few staunchly conservative cops and Marines who went to Seattle and fought the riot cops there. These guys HATE hippies. But they hate fucking foreign police on US soil arresting our hippies even more. German police in the USA arresting US citizens. They're lucky the riots weren't bigger.

The premise of Deus Ex was "Lets take every reasonably possible conspiracy theory and assume them all to be true. Now roll the clock forward a few decades." The shear amount of predictions they got right is simply indicative of how many of those conspiracy theories were true.

Shark attacks, DnD and Metal are devil worship, and violent videogames cause school shootings. Abortion was the single biggest issue in the 90s.

this makes me feel so fucking blackpilled holy shit

This cunt understands

didnt trotski end up in a gulag?

Elon musk sponsored it
Also meme magic

You faggots don't care about this, wtf?

look when the EU was officially formed

>opposed Bush during 9/11
I read this as "opposed Bush doing 9/11"

it's been a year. jesus christ this fucking website. health and victory.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memex

Spector came out and said it was purely coincidence.

The game even states the towers were destroyed in a terror attack

checked

What surprises me is how many leftists claim to like this game. It regularly takes a shit on globalism, big government, one world government, the EU, etc which are all things they support. Maybe they just ignore all that and get off on the le computer dictator perfect communism ending??

Every Single top dev on that game now shitposts all day about Drumpf on Twitter.

>redpilled

We have to start extending olive branches, at least to the moderates.

You're a fucking brain dead nigger.

The game designers don't have to realize when meme magic is going into their work.

Fucking coincidence that the game's Twin Towers were destroyed in a terrorist attack, a year before it actually happened in real life.

KYS

Leftists have no idea wtf is going on. They don't even know they are supporting globalism. Just pair it with muh gay rights and leftists are good 2 go.

Nah, they removed it because the texture would have been too high and some graphics cards at that timer could not handle it

It's genuinely scary how true many of them are. It isn't that much of a leap to assume many more are true and equally unsettling.

The original Dude Sex was sent back in time by Ron Paul as a warning. No one listened.

Deus Ex us the most redpilled shit ever. I replayed it recently and it blew my mind.

A few of the ones with integrity are warning about the idiocy and excess seen today. Camille Paglia for instance. Even though she's a 2nd wave lesbian feminist she's also an honest academic who loves to call out bullshit.

There's a reason why Eastern European devs are knocking shit out of the park, and why formerly great devs like Bioware are falling. Even Bethesda seems unsteady these days.

You are clueless as to how these things work.

The game devs did not have to be in on something. Yes, for them, they were saving on memory usage.

What a coincidence that they removed the Twin Towers and said it was a terrorist attack.

How can people be this daft.
