US is a net oil exporter, so they stand to gain from increased oil prices. Additionally, half of the oil the US does import is from Canada and Mexico, and another 20% is from South America. Only 16% comes from Saudi Arabia and that can be replaced in the event of a shortage. The oil crises of the 70's are a thing of the past for now.
The US is also one of the biggest exporters of arms in the world. Pic related is a bit outdated but it gives you an idea of how huge our military-industrial complex is. 7 of the 10 largest arms manufacturing companies are in the United States. More war = more sales = more profit.
Additionally, a war, especially a conventional war against other states rather than non-state actors, gives the US a chance to leverage its hard power, which is arguably what they're best at in terms of foreign relations.
Finally, from a domestic perspective, a successful war is a great way to drum up support for a sitting president. So all these factors point to a potential GCC-Iran war being beneficial for some parties in power in the US. Which explains why there are many groups pushing for it.

Ask anyone who lived in the US and was old enough to drive back then about the "gas shortage", they'll damn well remember both of them, in 1973 and '79. The latter of which was one of the reasons Carter got BTFO in his campaign for re-election, and it's also partly why even today many will rank him as a poor president.
The airbase isn't in any danger because it belongs to the US. If Qatar is invaded and regime change'd then the airbase will be re-authorized by the new regime. If it's not then either the current deal will remain in place or the US will take full participation in the war in order to "defend" its airbase. Obviously, giving the US a casus belli to attack you is probably the worst thing you can do in today's geopolitical sphere, second only to making them defend themselves against you, which not only puts you at war with them but makes you look like an aggressor.
Also, the airbase is widely known for being used in the current US intervention in the Syrian Civil War. Regardless of whatever the truth may be, the official line is that the airbase is being used to combat ISIS. Obviously, if Qatar moves to repossess the airbase, from the US perspective this puts them on the same side as ISIS. Of course this is a vast oversimplification of the matter but if you look at it from the domestic US perspective it gives the DOD a pretty good case to fight Qatar, and by proxy whoever supports Qatar.
