In support of this argument, liberals will point out how more red states receive more then the pay. However, if you break it down further, most of the red sates in this situation; Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, ect, are receiving a large amount due to the large amount of blacks and other minorities in their state, who the majority vote democrat.
Basically, While red states outnumber blue states in the takes more then they pay category, it's mostly due to the democrat voters in those states; minorities. I live in Ohio, and while I would call the state a red state, we have large democrat votes in, you guessed it, the large cities; the 3 C's, Toledo, Dayton, Akron, etc. Makes me think how these areas receive more gibs then what they pay.
In the end it's pointless however. If for some reason they went though with this, The most likely ones to leave are fucked. Illinois is a few months max imo from going bankrupt mainly due to pension fuckery but also Chicago being the endless pit of gibs. Liberal states like New Jersey are consumer states not producers. Even without resorting to racism, the top 1% pay half of all income tax so of course blue states look much better on average when the top 1% choose to live in large and coastal cities. The average is so skewed by that tiny % of the population, you can't really use it to say much about how the general population gives/takes to federal aid. They're only making the argument that the mega-wealthy are better people simply because they give so much to federal aid and take so little from it.

It absolves corporates of the financial obligation, which is attractive to business investment. It gives the state more negotiating power with hospitals over pricing. It insures everyone.
