How does a tradition begin? Does tradition result from a great man specifically making an effort to introduce an original ritual to his people or is it a much slower process with a humble beginning?

It's the traditions passed on from the Aryan origin of Hyperborea. A land governed by half the year by Baldur/Apollo/Belobog etc

Alright, but it's not as if the traditions of Hyperborea were maintained perfectly for thousands of years. Some practices changed or were introduced which lead to different tribes having different cultures.
Different cultures add their own variations, of course, Thor is a Thunderer with a hammer, Perun is a Thunderer with an axe. The gods and roles were maintained. The slavic religion for example was a lot closer to the vedic religion than the Germanic but they all come from the same origin.
And how will it shift in the future? Will there come a time when Perun is wielding a gun?

It won't really shift in the future, interpretation might change a little and no Perun won't wield a gun lol. The way to honor the gods hasn't changed whatsoever, the way you honor them is by trying to imitate them. An example of honoring Baldur the god of purity you have to be pure as you can and in this sense, you try to imitate them. This can possibly win you their favor.

Rituals are cultural, what you can do to honor the Gods is the way I mentioned.

Rituals are symbolic, you can do that. I offer the gods many things and try to honor them in new ways.
