I was in fourth grade and watching planes crash in to buildings as a kid, was the coolest thing ever

School, 6th grade. I was on Long Island so it happened close to home. Parents started coming in and shuffling out their children, classroom emptied pretty fast. I was home before I knew what happened, but as far as I remember they put on the news at school for everybody that was left and didn't do anything.

I was 10 and in school. I didn't hear anything until they let us out early and my mom picked me up. I knew my dad worked in the area but I didn't know he worked like across the street from the WTC.

A few hours after the towers collapsed I remember we heard from him. A few more hours later he came home covered in that dust. He saw some shit that day.

The grade 6 teacher next door was literally a faggot ( but he wasn't a really a wimpy kind of fag, in a lot of ways he was actually scary and intimidating) and he comes rushing in our room sayin " OMG buildings bin hit in nyc, turn on your radio" So we listened to cbcs coverage of it. I remember during the following recess break, I was discussing the implications and possibilities of who committed the attack. I obviously didn't know what I know now, but I knew even at 10 years old that something was fishy about this. Take the school bus home to find my sister and her friend (both in highschool) getting stoned and shooting our dads pellet gun. I remember rushing to my sister to tell her, and she already knew but didn't really grasp what it all meant and didn't care to know what it meant and continued shooting the pellet gun. My next memory following the attacks is aas follows. We had to do "paragraphs of the week" it is what it sounds like. We were handed out subjects to write our paragraphs on but I missed school the day they were handed out so I wrote on my own topic which was about the 911 and the perseverance the states will show. I remember being really proud of it because I genuinely wanted to voice my opinions on the attack and put a lot of effort into it. So I hand it in and days later get it back with a shitty mark because the topic of 911 was not one of the topics handed out but I remember her noting on the first page that it was well written. Fucking wish I still had it. I finish this memory with how I finished my paragraph, GOD BLESS AMERICA. Happy 4th yankee doodles, enjoy your day. Family and I got on a boat that took us across the river to Jersey where we had some family in Hoboken and stayed there for a few nights. I'll never forget that night. I watched the second "plane" hit with my naked eyes, and I've always been skeptical about it being a plane. It looked more like a missile than a plane. But, I was 11 and we were all still freaking out over the first "plane" hitting so I'm willing to admit that I wasn't in the best state of mind to recall things.
