There's actually not too many things right now that could destroy Trump or the Republicans in 2020. Healthcare just happens to be one of them.
By now, I've just about given up hope that the GOPe will come up with anything good. Even if something does pass, it'll almost certainly be shit, because otherwise they would've had it typed up years ago.
Are we destined to get single payer one day? I'm not saying that's necessarily any good either, but right now it seems it's just one bad reform after another and it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see that people might just go for it after being bounced around all these lousy solutions. The Democrats won't be out of power forever.
Something that totally ended any hope I had for Obama was when he obviously just let his party run wild and signed whatever the fuck they gave him, the lack of leadership and meekness foretold all the horrible ways he'd deal with all the other problems foreign and domestic.
Trump doesn't seem to be that way, him telling McConnell the bill was too cruel was already standing up to "his party" more than Obama ever did, but at the same time, Dilbertman is right, Trump hasn't articulated a coherent vision for Healthcare that is on par with the persuasiveness of "build the wall" and it's a bit of a mystery right now what he wants other than the bill to fit his vague metric of "great".
