America was a world of white picket fence where you didn't have to lock your doors at night, children respected their elders, the husband was always the head of the household, Eisenhower was president, and the economy was great thanks to good old American capitalism. There was also the fact that communist were openly shunned and hated in society, the most degenerate members of society were just beatniks (nothing compared.pared to sjws of today).

Culturally, we like the 50s because of old school rock and roll, drive in movie theaters and diners, and arguably the best looking cars ever made.
