Sure, insofar as it was a religion built around materialism, logic, and self discipline using meditation and exercise for the purpose of creating a better world in this life rather than waiting for a better world after it.

That's more theology than religion. They're still very intertwined but you can remove most politics from religion, it just so happens that major religions have a built in political bent.
