Also Robert E. Lee would have very likely become president as there was talk everywhere about during the war, and he was staunchly anti-slavery, released all of his family's slaves, started an illegal slave school, and publicly decried slavery as a moral evil. He may not have abolished slavery if he got into office, but he certainly wouldn't have done much to help it through industrialization.

The articles of secession, which is a primary source, explicitly state that slavery was the primary reason for secession. It's mentioned over and over again in those papers. Any historian of repute would shit all over you, but then again, this is why you're an unemployable weeb who circlejerks on Sup Forums. Get a job faggot.

Rhodesia survived until the 1970s and Apartheid South Africa until the 1980s. There's no reason to assume the Confederacy could not have done the same, or still exist.

Slavery was a fiscal incentive. It was needed to process cotton since there was no machinery to do so yet. Thus the slaves were equal in worth to modern cotton processing equipment (roughly an average car in modern currency each in purchase value) in an economy based on supplying the worlds cotton. Taking them away would ruin the economy and weaken the south and weaken southern state independence from the centralizing north that wanted to look outwards and unite the states into a U.S. empire. However, only a few years later, modern cotton processing methods were introduced, making slaves irrelevant to the industry (which is the only industry they were used for serious profit in). As such, had Dixie won, slavery would have become outlawed pretty quickly. Yet since Dixie would be a country, they would almost certainly have backed an African American colony - Liberia - in Africa to get rid of the negroes instead of just jim crowing in the states.

I highly doubt it will realistically portray what blacks would be like if under continual slavery. They'll be intelligent capable people that want to be free.

Another problem with this is that slavery never would have survived into the modern day, since it would have lost any economic benefit with the advent of mechanical farm tools. I think it's more likely all the niggers would be sent back to Africa than them staying slaves.

There wouldn't have been civil strife worse than in the north thanks to mass emigration (partially forced) of negroes from the south opening up for jobs primarily held by free blacks. Further, the standardized cotton industry would be a serious boom, cause it would face British and possibly French direct support, and it's likely most of the world would wear dixie cotton. Slavery would be outlawed, the south would turn very white due to deportation, and they'd probably find a way to go against their state independence due to external threats. Also the isolated/inbred backwaters nature of the south today would not be a thing 'cause they'd invest in infrastructure for their massive plantations, creating something like a west european country.

You know damn well what's happening here, and the timing couldn't be more obvious.

Slavery was in the context of the economics. Not because either side felt blacks should be free and equal. The north had plans to send blacks to the Caribbean or Nigeria after the war. That plan changed during the war, not before.

I'm 17 (Yeah, I know), and last semester I was taught that the civil war was ONLY about slavery, and NOTHING else. One third of the lessons were really trying to reinforce the point. Southern white people were lazy, cruel, and the best were just ignorant. The book had heavy imphasis on pictures in which slaves were getting whipped and some whites were off to the side lounging around drinking sweet tea or some shit.
Also portrayed as uneducated and anti-intellectual, but that wasn't true at all, southerners were better educated than norterners at the time so long as they weren't born in the mountains or something.

Most of what I know about the civil war comes from my great grandparents. Apparently their grandparents had a small lumber mill, no slaves, but the northern army burnt everything down and raped my grandma and her sister, and maimed my grandpa and the two oldest sons who could fight, one of which died. The one son left unharmed walked 50 miles (they killed the horse too) and told the extended family what had happened. So they all joined the confederacy.
