How do south koreans feel about north korea?

...

The oldest ones still want reunification. The younger ones think the US is their only problem.

They're jealous that only The People's Democratic Republic of Best Korea grants the freedom for males to keep their foreskins.

That's new jersey

can you elaborate? isn't the US their ally?

they don't care at all, and by that i mean they take nothing the north does seriously. they consider the united states their #1 enemy, the north is nothing important.

I've heard that the young don't care for reunification. You can see in polls the majority of people still want reunification but dont think it should be a tippy top priority because it'd be expensive. Check the wiki page. It has good polls.

>what is a world map

>isn't the US their ally?
on paper sure, but all koreans hate america and consider it their #1 enemy.

> the united states their #1 enemy

why?

are you korean?

After World War II, Korean was essentially looted by the Allies.

Korea was Japanese imperial property at the time, so it was divvied up like a war chest between the two Allies who played the biggest role in defeating Japan (Americans with the Pacific Theatre and Russians with the Manchurian Campaign)

Understandably, this caused some butthurt in the older population.

so why does SK allow themselves to be cucked by the US?

My Korean gf says that they hardly hear any news about North Korea and that the threats are empty as they receive a lot of money from SK.

the educational system teaches all of the kids from a young age that america and japan are evil and are the koreans' greatest enemies. why they do that i'm not entirely sure, but they do. probably because koreans are just hyper racially aware and naturally see a threat to koreans in the north as an attack on koreans as a whole.

A big part of the reason SK is as prosperous as it is is because after the war the West arranged trade relations so as it buy its shit so make it rich and advanced. This resulted in the West keeping it as a foothold, and SK liking the West for helping it out.

SK is propping up the north? why?

>Understandably, this caused some butthurt in the older population.
i've heard that the only pro-america koreans to be found in korea are the korean war generation.

Better question, why are there so many coal burning korean girls? Just visited there a few weeks ago and was shocked.

so it both likes and dislikes the west?

i mean, if they hate the US that much, shouldn't it make sense to re-unify with NK, as they're both ethnically and geopolitically aligned?

see The Jewish Agenda is very strong there.

What a crock of shit.

The United States is the only thing that stands in North Korea way in bullying the South through artillery and submarine aggression let alone land invasion. Not to mention the countless Millions that US has spent funding the south reconsyruction post war and subsidizing their economy through preferential free trade agreements. Fucking us hatred is Korean drama queen mentality, it's the lefty socialist scum that permeates in SK pretending that the US is the evil empire aggressor. It's a popular theory among many in lefty Asia, the THADD debacle demonstrates that.

The US should follow their lead, withdraw, and watch as the south starts to feel what it's like not have a colossal nipple to suck on. Fuck off.

Something like that. I'm not sure

because "diversity" i assume

>shouldn't it make sense to re-unify with NK
no, it would completely destroy the economy of SK overnight. they would suddenly be responsible for taking care of 25 million people overnight, which is half the population of SK.

so why're you still there if SK is such a drain?

Geopolitical importance in defending Japan (who aren't as liberal and brain dead, fortunately) from the Chinks. Do you not fucking pay attention to the south China sea or do you just assume that if the US wasn't there that those countries would all play nice together?

Sad!

>play nice

it's none of the US' business what China does in its own backyard

>butthurt chink detected

Better watch out Mr. Chen or the Politburo might find out you're posting on a censored site.

Are you familiar with the Trilateral Commission? It was a round table group formed by Rockefeller and Brzezinski for further the efforts for forming a global government.

Tri = 3. So, Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific. Hence American force projection (military, economic, trade, etc.) into to the Asia-Pacific is an essential interest. Kind of like how the US was so keen to get Hawaii and the Phillipines.

In fact, Kissinger's opening of trade relations to China was part of this overall goal of extending American power though interdependence, which would also act as leverage to maintain the Sino-Soviet split.

>filthy globalist detected

>Are you familiar with the Trilateral Commission?

no, i wasn't. thanks

>confusing power projection with globalism.

Globalism would be opening the doors to the Chinks to infect the west with their tourists, university students, and restaurants.

How does that have anything to do with keeping a yellow Manlet from taking over Asia?

'cause you ARE the globalists you dumb fuck

False Korea is US puppet state

Their feeling are not important.

Once our reentry tech is made reliable, we will nuclear strike Japan and invade and reclaim Flase Korea.

When world knows new One Korea has reliable nuclear capability after destroying Japan city, we will be left alone

>meme flag poster
>thinking anything he says is an argument.

Not an argument.

do you want to reunify?

nice try, thats italy upside-down

Coming from a South Korean immigrant I personally couldn't give a shit about our Northern counterpart. I'm still a little mad that I have never seen my granny though.

ok, nvm. ignore

i wasn't trying to make an argument. i was stating a fact

>we will be left alone

are you sure? don't you think the US will see it as an opportunity to invade the korean peninsula and claim ALL of it?

I once had a friend in the 4 th grade who was South Korean, he came over to live with his uncle for a couple of years so he could better learn English

I once asked him which Korea he came from, North or South?
(At the Time, I thought it was only a technical difference like North and South Carolina)
He got all big eyed and said
>Northie Bad, Southie Good
I think that sums it up

>give a shit about our Northern counterpart

that's so sad. why do you allow yourselves to be balkanized by external forces?

ps. i'm not trying to be snarky. serious question

Why did you migrate, and what are your thoughts on Canada?

Expensive? That's putting it mildly. The younger generation isn't about to sacrifice a comfy standard of living in order to rescue a lot of people who are little more than strangers to them.

It wouldn't be the US that would want to occupy the entire peninsula. It would be the insane satanic Jews who want to create enough chaos to trigger the US into having to try to stabilize the whole peninsula.

It's not in any kind of national self-interest for the US to do all this occupying, or to not have buffer states.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I can tell you've never been because they like Americans quite a bit, their attitude is a lot more friendly than in Japan (or really anywhere else in the world). The old ones don't like foreigners at all. That being said, they're still happy the entire Korean peninsula doesn't belong to North Korea, and unlike some cunts around the world, they give credit where it's deserved.

You should know by now every country hates american government.Every country

Is that you, Kim?

many such cases

The people of Canada are very welcoming of migrants but a lot can't pronounce my name correctly lol. Politics in Canada is very stupid tbqh so I don't usually talk about it. I immigrated because I have a lover in Canada and she isn't fluent in speaking Korean yet so I didn't wanna force her to learn everything.

>It wouldn't be the US that would want to occupy the entire peninsula. It would be the insane satanic Jews

when it comes to contemporary US geopolitics, is there a difference?

What you want to be true and what in fact is true are two different things. They don't hate the American government. I would know much more than you because I was stationed there. I talked to many South Koreans, including many South Korean armed forces. They know they're still at war with the North and they know they would still be occupied by the North Koreans if it weren't for the US government.

Do you think you would ever move back to South Korea? No offense to you or anything, I just can't imagine someone WANTING to live in Canada, also, is your gf white or Asian?

Probably the same way India feel about Pakistan.

Yes, absolutely. Firstly, SK, US, China, Russia nobody wants the burden of having to take care of NK and bring it up to the level of a normal country. That's a big project. Maybe if there is greater international cooperation we could make some money off of helping to rebuild, but unilateral occupation by the US would just drain the US, and even multilateral occupation at this point would probably just be a draining powder keg for all.

Secondly, NK in the past has functioned as a political football. A way to have proxy arguments among Great Powers without having to confront each other directly. Perhaps this era is over, but it's still useful to not have everybody sharing border.

Consider, for instance The Ukraine. That's a bad place for NATO and Russia to share a border because it's a destabilized crushed country. Having a NATO/Russia border in Poland is tense but more sustainable because Poland is relatively stable, it's been that way for long enough, and neither side really wants to risk skirmishes.

North Korea is our greatest ally!!

But seriously, you wouldn't exist without us.

I still don't know if I will move back. It all depends if she wants to come with me, she's a nut for South Korea and would love to come with me but I still want her to be fluent first.

I'm banging a girl from Busan. It's kinda fun. Shit English skills though.

>allow yourselves to be balkanized by external forces

As if they had a choice before that. The Japanese occupied the Korean peninsula before the allies divided it.

Is your gf Korean or at least Asian? I'm only assuming because of her apparent interest in SK
I won't sperg out if she's white or anything, I'm just curious

yeah, but didn't they still have a sense of national identity? the backlash against japanese invasion was quite strong i think?

literally why the fuck do people like you try to take part in conversations that you know nothing about

No she is a ginger girl. Very uncommon in my country but I always fancied it.

i'm curious too. if she's white, how do your parents feel about it?

how do chinese feel about NK invading SK?

>ginger
Fuck you, Ive got a thing for red heads.
Now I am a sad man

WHAT THE FUCK

>know nothing about

that's why i'm asking questions. kys

Damn Koreans stealing all the fire crotches lol

My parents aren't going to stop it but they wish I was with a Korean girl.

Who else here feeling that summer heat?

I had a classmate with a South Korean dad, North Korean mom. He's a medical resident now, very hard-working fellow.

>that's why i'm asking questions. kys
What? All you did was make a completely wrong claim.

people used to use the nk flag with a proxy before but all the nk proxies are banned now. piss off

They've been slightly more common recently from what I've seen.

I saw this guy last week, you piss off

>really wants to risk skirmishes.

do you think trump is serious about using military engagements against NK?

it wasn't a rhetorical question

Only North Korea has successfully instituted Socialism. North Korea is based.

It's hard to guess. I'm not even really sure how much say Trump has over the matter, ranging from being fed bad intelligence to having some force or other act on its own. Both things have not been uncommon over the past half century or more.

What is more disturbing is the variety of strong opinions I hear about how best to respond to NK. That includes the gung-ho warmongering from neocons at every opportunity, the surgical ideas of saner heads, and the strange silence from voices I would ordinarily trust to put out a more subtle analysis of the possibilities.

My guess is that from Trump's perspective, he is most concerned about making a bit of show of force and conducting a minor pretty standard ramp-up of defensive capabilities (cf. Russia deciding to install missile defense shields and then declaring a no-fly zone in the ME when people started fucking around -- no unreasonable responses to unreasonable actions.)

However, from what I understand, the going thought is that what's being put in place is mainly to warn / protect against what the (((MSM))) is scaring people about -- a long range missile, possibly nuclear. What is less talked about is if NK just mortars the fuck out of Seol. I'm not sure that the US's advanced weapons programs are up to the task of stopping that, although if I did know about them I wouldn't say anything about it on Sup Forums anyway.

True. Koreans aren't ethnically (or even culturally different) except ideologically, and this still being historically recent. This ideological difference is still very significant to them. SK and NK want peace and armistice, but Reunification is not going to happen because of that or because they were once united.

As a Korean-American there are far more coalburning sluts in Japan and Japanese Americans

thank you for such thoughtful analysis

are koreans still butthurt over japan?

The older generation is %100 butthurt (Im fluent in Korean so I speak with my grandparents/relatives when I go to Korea)
Te younger generation is %50 butthurt but are well educated of Japan's war crime and how fucked up they are

Japan is literally our fucking test product as we use them to know what kind of shit to do and not do
>avoiding a financial crisis by not following Japan's shitty economics

>What is less talked about is if NK just mortars the fuck out of Seoul

This is talked about. All around Seoul are bunkers. And, of course, around the border, the US military and SK military are taking measures to counter this, see the 210th Field Artillery Brigade. NK has more artillery but not air superiority.

Korean people race mix the least out of all Asians and we don't make fucking bbc porn unlike you chink/nip fuckers

You replying to the wrong person you fucking retards

I said less talked about, not not talked about. But clearly one is the big soap opera for the media and the other is something of a more practical concern.

I'm not sure even air superiority would be all that much of a concern if NK were to pull something like that except as a formality of a show of force escalation. What's much more worrisome in that case, in my mind anyway, are the following three questions:

1. What happens to SK when its capital city gets #rekt, and probably most people wouldn't bunker up in time? How much emergency response capacity would there be to take care of them, their economy, the impact to the global economy, and who would be bearing the brunt of that cost?

2. What happens to NK afterward? This is a similar question for if one were to engineer regime change or even just destabilizing NK as a way to help neuter its government. What's the future? As with Russia, many people want Putin out but few people have an answer for the resulting power vacuum.

3. What would the knock-off effects of this be, regionally especially (considering we have escalating tensions in that theater, politically, military, economically, financially) but also in the context of the global escalation of chaos? Might that serve as a major global black swan event? Is it sufficient to consider a reactive measure that wouldn't really even be all that resiliant?

I don't know, but I should hope that there is considerable careful thought being put in to this.

>[Korea] was divvied up like a war chest between the two Allies who played the biggest role in defeating Japan (Americans with the Pacific Theatre and Russians with the Manchurian Campaign)

This was already done by the Japanese. Also, only 80 year olds and the majority of Sup Forums live as if WWII was only two weeks ago. Have you heard of Samsung, Hyundai, et cetera? Me too because SK is thriving today.

are you real china no 1

FUCKING THIS
all my peers think of South Korea like a third world gookland when I tell them I'm Korean and think Samsung is Chinese/Japanese

oops, my bad. haha

why do koreans hate chinks? weren't they also victims of japanese occupation? shouldn't you all be commiserating?

US is the greatest country on Earth and SK is proud to be such a close ally. Last weekend there was a demonstration of SK support for the US outside the embassy in Seoul, thousands turned up, danced to swing music, held up flags and placards praising the US. Crowd of young and old.

It was also fiercely anti - lgbt. So quite a few bible verses about the family and homosexuality. Pic related.

This is a pretty common occurrence. How often do you Yanks see it reported in your "news" though, that another country is actually pro US?

As for NK, young people don't give a shit, it's true. If reunification happened it would be like the European migrant crisis all over again. NK do have some pretty impressive engineers though, they aren't stupid.
