There are three basic concepts in creating a slogan:

1. The rule of three: a slogan should be kept as short as humanly possible. Ideally, this means 3 words, which has a uniquely persuasive effect.

2. It needs to be amorphous. It can't be debatable.

3. It needs to invoke something deeply important to the American psyche.

It fails 1 and 2, and only invokes the New Deal and Fair Deal, which are controversial at best.

This is worse than have you seen the other guys.

That's why they start with "better skills", which Democrats on twitter are already jumping all over. They are admitting that in the globalized economy, only people with high-powered skills will actually have better jobs and wages. They are just coming out and telling you you will be poor and its your fault if you don't become a coder or a biotechnologist.
