The so-called Gleiwitz Incident is a post-war fabrication. The sole source for this story was a postwar affidavit by one Alfred Naujocks. Incidentally, Naujocks was under threat to be transferred to the Soviets.
Naujocks claimed he was ordered by SS leaders Heydrich stage the incident. Well, Heydrich was dead. There is not a single shred of documentation that backs up Naujocks' story. No orders, requisitions, prisoner transfer orders, transport manifests, Nothing.
Naujocks' story is patently ridiculous. He claimed that the concentration camp prisoner were given lethal injections and then shot. Why not just shoot them in the first place. The doctor that Naujocks mentions by name has never been found.
To top it all off, Naujocks story is contradicted by contemporaneous news reports at the time that said that ONE Pole had been mortally wounded and he was wearing civilian clothes.
So why this fabrication? To make it look at the Nuremberg Trials that Poland was completely innocent of instigating the German attack. Naujocks' didn't testify, although he was in British custody, because his story, submitted as an affidavit would have been picked to shreds.

The story that Erwin Rommel was forced to commit suicide is also based on a single source: Fifteen year-old Manfred Rommel.
Earlier, Rommel had been wounded when his staff car was strafed by a British fighter. Rommel had suffered a head injury and was convalescing at his home.
