Had a family member finally join the Met police after years trying to get into shape for it. He lasted three-ish years.
He had to take the bus to attend calls and investigate robberies/burglaries etc. There were estates and streets where you couldn't go alone and some so bad that even two cops couldn't safely enter.
There were multiple times where he couldn't make an arrest despite open drug and weapon offences happening in front of him because he was either alone or there were too many criminals and no backup available.
Not sure what the final straw was but he's quit AND moved to the west country with his family. Obviously saw too much of the reality, maybe he had the right plan.
