Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage.

What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

I was reading up on the bolshevik regime the other day.

Turns out Lenin actually wanted some kind of perfect anarchic communist state. But then when the Bolshevik party lost the elections by 2:1, he seized power, disestablished democracy, claiming that allowing it would destroy the revolution.

He then went full dictator. Most of the programs people blame Stalin for were actually started by Lenin. The gulags, the political persecutions, banning all opposition parties.....etc. All started and enacted by Lenin, continued under Stalin.
