Google search

Anyone notice how in recent years google search became useless? Before (Around 5 years ago) You could find anything you searched for and it was quality sites/Forums other people saying somethingetc... Now its riddled with adds and blog robotic sities, and when you type something it finds irelevant and bad results that have the words all over the place and its nothing you typed about. It all started going down when they removed ''Discussions'' search tool. Is google trying to suppress information? Don't even get me started on google images which can't find shit.

Other urls found in this thread:

twitter.com/NSFWRedditGif

so

Google forum Search Filter:
inurl:forum|viewthread|showthread|viewtopic|showtopic|"index.php?topic" | intext:"reading this topic"|"next thread"|"next topic"|"send private message"

I didn't make this, but can confirm that it works at the moment. Supposedly using it violates Google's TOS.
But fuck those cunts.

>Supposedly using it violates Google's TOS
it doesn't, it's just advanced search

information inflation, back in 2003~2008 there weren't as many sites as there are now trying to capitalize on google search, at the same time there weren't as many sites trying their hardest to hide their content behind robots.txt

I copied it from an app extension. When I first used it I got some weird warning from google about using unapproved chrome extensions. When i turned it off, and tried ctrl+v'ing the text from it, I'd occasionally have to solve captchas before they'd allow me to search.
Shouldve screen capped it, I know. But try it yourself, I bet it'll happen to you.

many people just don't use advanced search, and google puts those simple shitty captcha in place to make sure that automated bots using google as a regex search of the internet aren't getting it easy
It happened with me and GRIS several times, the truth is that it is actually bot behavior you're expressing, and there's no way for them to tell you apart from bots when you use that long-ass advanced search string to look for something really specific

My bad, you're right. I mustve been thinking of the older version of the app. The dev claims that he updated it to just add filters.
I knew they were just filters anyway, but figured google was dickish enough to try to ban those.

eh it's not about "banning", restricting them behind captchas is a leaky patch to a problem, not really a solution. Google is pushing chrome browser identification of clients hard because it's their one way to tell apart bots and humans with a pretty decent rate of success. Sucks for privacy, but it's a trade-off they're more than welcoming because they're doing NOTHING with all the data they're getting, and most of it is just to tell you apart from automatic scripts, and inherently useless to anyone.
The useful information they can sell they already get from you in other ways, from other services, so they don't really need your search history outside of telling you apart from johnny-5

Man, I use DuckDuckGo
