One thing I would like more knowledge of is why people think the earth is flat / other weird theories of earth / space.

It's impossible to break a sphere down into a flat plane without distorting something. This is a well known geometric issue among anyone with basic knowledge of 3D. Anyone can understand this by downloading blender and trying to use smart UV unwrapping on a sphere. It doesn't work, least not without either incorrect polygon ratios or breaking the unwrap into multiple parts.

This is why all flat earther maps always end up greatly distorting Australia and basically everything south of the equator, while shrinking everything up top.
