You'd be amazed. Years ago when I was living in East Rogers Park I had a guy trying to jump my back gate at 2am. He'd made a hell of a racket moving garbage cans around to get high enough, so I went out, found him halfway over, and pushed him on back to the alley.
Fucker called the cops and wanted to press assault charges. CPD, dolls that they are, decided to decline both his complaint and mine for residential burglary.

This was back during the bad old days of the handgun ban, popping him would have been a very bad move if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
Interestingly, he was white. The building was this big courtyard building and we had a new tenant. We found out later that she was turning tricks out of the unit. He had been her pimp before she went and set up shop for herself, and I guess he was breaking in to try to talk to her or scare her or whatever. We ended up having to evict her before the year was up.
He actually showed up again six months later or so, right after we evicted the girl, and took a bad beating from two other tenants. He was trying to break in and then started making threats. Turns out the woman he threatened was the wife of this crazy 50-something Greek bricklayer who lived in one of the basement apartments. Greek psycho had another tenant over for beers, a black guy who lived in the building with his kids and was none too impressed with a pimp sneaking around. I almost felt sorry for the guy.
