Abos arrived in Australia about 4000 years before the polynesian migrations started and they remained genetically isolated in almost all of the country until whites brought them civilization. IIRC the Maoris got to NZ somewhat late in their travels. I don't know if they were the first there or not. NZ is kind of in the middle of nowhere like the other places the Maoris found, despite its considerable land area.
