Well according to that map you posted, they are already are trying to cap it, or at least a satellite town to the east. Their inability to capture is more to do with relative military strength than geopolitical concerns, as I imagine the Saudi's have a substantial military presence defending the city from outright conquest by the Houthis.
The majority of citizen in the city are shiite, so perhaps there's an uprising in the works, so that the Houthis can take Najran the same way ISIS took Mosul.
