The Chinks would get all their infantry, all their artillery, all their navy warships, all their planes, all their biological weapons as they hurdled towards Australia. They would arrive and enter Melbourne. The Chinese Squadron first to arrive would then say:
"Oh wait we already invaded like 1 year ago lol."
The Chinese would then stop in at China Town and then go back to their shitty Australian development apartments where a petrol station once was.

The only way to successfully invade Australia is to do it legally, and with permission from the political and democratic powers that be.
Hence as to why China and the US have a strong presence here.
If Japan had attempted to invade back in the Pacific theater of war to a more persistent degree, it would have been a long, unforgiving conflict. Invading Australia by military force requires a lot of spending to keep your troops and directions intact if you're not going scorched-earth and just nuking us outright in the first place.
The strategy is to invade Papua New Guinea first. From here China can build airbases, naval bases and artillery that can strike mainland Australia.
Australia would be trying to defend PNG with jungle warfare as well as aerial attacks but once PNG is under Chinese control it becomes something of a stalemate in the north of Australia.
The next target for China is New Zealand. New Zealand has a small population and low capability. They should easy to neutralise.
Now China can extend its base building in New Zealand. Obtaining much resources, especially food. It will be an ideal staging ground for the land invasion forces.
From this point China can invade Sydney Harbour with a full frontal assault. It can also close off the Bass Strait to prevent sea access to Melbourne.
Once Sydney has fallen, land forces can more south to secure Melbourne, which, as said, is cut off.
Finally, there is Perth and Adelaide.
Probably the remaining Australian forces retreated to Perth as a last redoubt. So it becomes a long drawn out process as the Chinese move their forces across the continent.
Basically here I think Australia can win because we can regain footholds elsewhere in the continent while Perth survives and gradually drive out the invaders. Assuming that the captured New Zealand and eastern cities cost China a lot to have to hold

for the army it would be very important to get tanks and IFVs on shore and keep them well supply´d and the supply chains very well protected. this way they can react fast on any US shore landings in case the Chinese navy cant destroy any incoming reinforcements.

The Chinese army has awful logistics even internally, to sail across a vast sea and land and supply an army would be incredibly difficult for them even without Australian resistance.

If Chinese units lose contact with a supreme commander, they will simply halt and do nothing. They won't dare execute any moves due to fear of reprisals and their culture in general.

China would have a very difficult time reaching Australia in any capacity. First of all they'd need to get here which would almost certainly involve establishing settlements in PNG or Indonesia, either of which would provoke an allied response by both ANZAC, Indonesia and most likely the US/India (maybe the UK). So from the get-go they would be fighting a defensive war trying to repel the allied response.
Establishing a beachead would be very difficult to achieve tactically for a few reasons: >its sparsely populated

The only real strategy they can adopt is one of attrition, eventually they'd wear down out rather small air force and be able to begin bombing. Supply lines would be king in this phase which are difficult to maintain over the large distances.
It's likely that allied command would fall back to Townsville, maybe Mackay which would be much easier to defend. At this point they would almost certainly need to start exploring the nuclear option, but it would also spell their doom so for obvious reasons I doubt they'd reach for the button when fighting us.

China doesn't have the naval capacity or supply chains to take Australia militarily. They'd have to knock over a bunch of other countries first and they don't even have the capacity to do that. Singapore and Indonesia certainly wouldn't be a walk in the park.
China could destroy Australia economically whenever it chooses. As other Anons have mentioned, they're playing the long game. There's already 1.2 million chinks living here and they're buying up everything as this nice meme video shows.

At this time there would be several naval fronts open as they try to circle around and open a new landing. Australia's navy is formidable and modern but would obviously get slowly worn down as the much larger Chinese force advances.
Going with the naval offensive China could conceivably land in Western Australia with ease, but again the distances would be killer to their logistics. The eastern seaboard would be almost certainly off limits due to the amount of ports and military installations in a much smaller area. The benefit of opening another front in WA would be to stretch AUS resources thin and psychologically damage the population. But it would do little to continue their advance eastward.
Obviously we wouldn't be fighting this alone, the guys I mentioned earlier would be around to provide assistance in some capacity, bolstering our comparatively small defense forces, making for difficult for China to fight a war of attrition and be forced into a more aggressive stance which they'd loose without close support from other allies that they simply don't have in the pacific.
