You must understand that over here, people despise wealth, there is an insidious culture of jealousy amongst people who lack wealth, who instead of seeing wealthy people as an inspiration or example, they cook up all sorts of fancy reasons why the wealthy are actually evil, to justify their desire to steal their wealth. Just because someone becomes rich, doesn't mean this finely-cultivated hatred and jealousy goes away, it just means that it gets directed at the self. As such, she becomes a virtue-signaller extraordinaire to try to alleviate the self-hatred she feels.
