Well, I think there's something to be said about a child seeing sexual acts and it degenerating them. You don't really need to worry about your child picking up an ak-47 or a grenade and killing someone, but you have to worry about your child exploring their, and their peers bodies.
Also, in my experience, unless it's a gore porn movie, "violence" in movies is usually pretty tame and unrealistic. They don't necessarily show the reality and the gravity of death and violence very well, but they readily show the reality of sexuality.
