I think we're misrepresenting him too. Please listen to minutes 20 - 26. There he makes his case. He's not saying the story was bullshit, but that Fox cut the video to attribute information from sources specifically to him instead. Then when he didn't have evidence in hand to back up the framing of those claims he was made to look like a fool and a liar and the investigation was practically defused.
Mr. Wheeler is still investigating this case, as evidenced by his twitter. He doesn't claim the Seth Rich story is bullshit, only Fox's depiction of his comments on the investigation.
