Know the translation you want, leather lasts decades, ones with red letters and crossreference passage footnotes are nice, some have prefaces for every book with history authorship key passages etc. , some have maps of the holyland and relavent art depicted.
Translation is up to you, i prefer king james version , New King James because newer translations have words like Sodomite and lascivious removed entirely or meanings changed in the OT to imply/unimply rape or prostitution.
