The poll doesnt reveal what the shia, the sunni, the ahmadiyya, the deobandi, etc think. It's an incomplete picture, the same as if you lumped all christians into a single bloc then you wouldnt be aware of the evangelical trend. To be fair this poll is not about condoning violence towards gays, it's simply about attitude. That's a huge difference. One might disapprove of homosexuals while wishing them no harm, and another might both disapprove while also wishing harm upon them. Data is interesting though, at least it "seems" like US muslims overall are slowly falling in line with their christian cousins. That's sadly not the case in my country.
