It looks like this was made in RPG Maker XP. I still have to give it credit for using original graphics instead of RTP stuff. If they want to charge 10$ for it, then fine by me. I want to make my own vidya and sell it for some extra passive income too.
I've also wanted to do this. In many ways, making an open world RPG is actually easier than your typical JRPG. The story is actually easier to make for a wRPG because you don't need to have cutscenes or drama. I want to take a year off from work and rent an apartment with 1 or 2 like-minded RPG maker people and devote all that time to making a great game. I'm liking MV more than any other iteration since 2000 and 2003. I'm somewhat decent at Javascript- I know more about JS than Ruby.

this really has to be considered in context. It can be reasonable for "poor" people to make bad decisions in some cases, however perhaps not in others. This is exactly why this game concerns me is that the nature of wealth and poverty is often incredibly subjective and relative to ones own life circumstances which begins to illustrate the individualized nature of the problem.

the simplest game graphics that kids are exposed to nowadays are in .io multiplayer web games, but even those don't use pixelated 8-bit graphics. they're usually smooth vector graphics with bold outlines. the 8-bit graphics gimmick will backfire if there is no nostalgia effect in the target market to artificially boost the hype.
