It's a tough road, OP. Conrrgational polity was a great thing, especially in a colonial church-town setting where local self-government really bloomed. The puritans, especially in the New World, have been unfairly maligned, but they were amazingly functional societies. Men who weren't the rare fuckup could make himself, and become a voter, and all were expected to hold some sort of civic responsibility or function.
Christian community seems fantastic in America. The fact you have guys like Steven Anderson is a a great sign. Count your blessings, burgers. The best Christian communities in the UK are the Christian Unions in universities, and that says something.
