Should I join the Army?

I have a pretty good webdev job, make about 125k gross plus benefits. Downside is insane housing prices and living in the worst liberal shithole imaginable.

War might be breaking out in Korea, and I think it would be a good time to make a change in my life, and unfuck my shit. I know soldiers make no money and I'm older (27), so I'm weighing my options.

Can any military anons give me advice? What's it like?

Oh I'm sure they'll just be lining up for him.

The military is for the dumbest of the dumb, for chimps who are willing to kill whichever other chimps their Jew overlords instruct them to.

I'll level with you....

If you're doing this cause you wanna see combat then make sure you get an x-ray contract or at the very least go in as infantry. If you don't you'll regret it.

Anything else is gonna suck. You'll end up doing somthing 4x worse than your current job and make significantly less.

No it's not a good idea. Shit is not glamorous or glorious. Probably end up stationed in Kansas surrounded by fucking retards being bossed around by a group of dudes who can't operate microsoft word. Promotions are based solely on how much of a chad you are and in the event you do see combat those chads will probably forget everything they know and revert to trying to out chad your opponents in the firefight.

It sucks for the most part but in the end its worth it. It builds confidence and shows you how far your body and mind can be pushed. You won't know the real you until you're starving, freezing and sleep deprived.

Being an infantryman is something you can always take pride in and you'll have a skillset that the vast majority of the country will never have. This is extremely helpful when the racewar kicks off. You won't make a shit load of money but you'll get that GI Bill. I used mine to learn to fly helicopters AND go to school. pretty sweet deal.

t. former 11b

88A (pls do not bully )here
it's not too bad
are you thinking about enlisting or commissioning?

Be more specific. What branch? Active or reserve? Enlisted or officer? What specialties are you thinking of? Are you an athletic person with a lust for action, or do you want to do clever things with technology? Are you good with languages? Do you enjoy homosexual sex? All of these are important questions that you should answer before you even talk to a recruiter.

Pay attention.

You think your job is bad now? Wait until you're commanded by an 85 IQ bully with no sense of management skills.

Fake and gay, no one making more than 50k gives serious thought to enlisting. Are you braindead?

Unless you feel you can cut in in a cool guy unit (Rangers or SF), no. Even then, still probably I wouldn't. In the slight chance things do pop off, the main action will be long over by the time you get to the line. (if you ever even do) Talk to any combat vet, shit ain't glamous. I'm an officerfag, I like my job ok but you ain't storming the beaches of Normandy either.

>Can any military anons give me advice?

Don't do it because you have a better job already.

>What's it like?

It's OK.

t. Active 11B

Can easily gain similar experiences going hunting and fishing and backcountry camping. Obviously not the combat part, but the toughness and mental patience and being cold, wet, and tired.

>ask a former 11B now working for NASA anything

Do it. I enlisted in Marine Corps a month ago, going to bootcamp on this Sunday.

>make over $100k
>want to join army
you should you are just the kind of person the grinder needs

good luck without military/LEO time

>not joining the navy instead

About to graduate this fall from college. Thinking of enlisting, because I have no other job prospects.

Our whole school took the Asvab and I had a 93.

Any anons have advice for which branch?

Don't be a puss. Join the Marines.

I would want to be infantry and see combat. Not sure whether to go active duty or national guard, on one hand National Guard will allow me to keep my job, but I'm 80% sure they'll trump up some charges to fire me once I join (because military = evil). Not sure if I'm too old for active duty, fitting in and what not.

I am somewhat athletic, I started lifting weights last year and I've done some 5K races, but I'm not elite material if that's what you're asking.

I live in a studio apartment that costs me $3000/m, homeless meth heads wander through the streets all night screaming obscenities and no one does shit about it. I have no wife and kids, I spend my free time watching anime, posting on imageboards and jacking off. When I step outside I have to constantly police my language and thoughts, never letting anyone know what I really think. It's not all sunshine and roses.

Hell yeah brother, heading to MCRD SD on Sunday.

>125k
>make a change in my life
Bruh, only reason people join the military in the firs tplace is because they don't have any money.

Navy for the travel/sea life
Marine for absorbing lead

>dying for israel

You will find no glory or honor in fighting wars that do not free yourself and your people.

A Captain, (The third lowest officer) maxes out at about $80,000 yearly, this is just base salary

In additon, there is a monthly housing allowance that can be used for mortgage or rent, as well as free healthcare for the entire family.

Jump Pay, language pay, and overseas pay are all additional monthly payments.

If the poster has the right qualifications, he can easily make 100K yearly.

Fourth post best post, thank you based aussie bro

Former USMC grunt. I need to know more about you. Why do you want to join the army/ what do you think you will do for them and what do you think they will do for you? If you're a techie might want to consider the Air Force, considerably nicer lifestyle.

Dude it isn't going to be any better in the military.
My experience with living on post goes like this:
>on weekends
>was under 21 so "couldn't" drink
>still drank, but had to stay in barracks so not to get in trouble
>go do laundry
>1 dude, drunk off fireball whiskey screaming high hell
>literally attacking anybody who stepped out their barracks room
>try to do laundry one night
>dude comes lunging at me
>2 arms full of laundry
>fuck me
>drop my shit and take a punch
>another dude comes out of barracks room to see wtf is going on
>I'm on the ground covered in shit stain underwear
>dudes screaming drunk shit
>other user tells drunk dude to go back to his room
>drunk dude starts throwing punches at other user
>I pick my up my swamp ass clothes and do my laundry
That's was pretty much every weekend when I was in the Army, when I turned 21 I just drank myself into a stupor tilL i finally ETS'd. You're not oging to find any improvement joining the military.

Army Combat Engineer 12B
Going to Korea for fucking sure.

yes

Are you retarded? Honest question

>Air Force
Join the Air Force and be counter-intelligence for ZOG, trolling places like Sup Forums

That's less than half of what I pull down as a chef at Wendy's so not for me.

lol you have fun shoveling ice off the roads after ice storms while the rest of post gets to chill for the day?

125k a year is what a one star general earns including perks.....you will be making 18k a year private....e1-3 qualifies for food stamps if you have a wife

maybe he'll enter as an officer; he said he is making 125K yearly now.

Kek blesses me because I do not lie...look up the pay chart yourself..

Shit it would suck enlisting at 27 to be a ranger or SF the other guys that age are all E-6 plus at that time.

a 2nd LT probably makes about 35-40

If you voluntarily join the army you are as good a goy as you can possibly be

If he had a medical degree they would be begging him to sign up with the pmc.

>I would want to be infantry and see combat
Do you want to "see combat" or be the guy who actively seeks combat? Practically everyone in the army whose job description is not literally "desk jockey" (i.e. adjutant general) has the possibility, and even the likelihood, of seeing combat, such as it is today. If you want to be in the thick of it, go any combat arms, but particularly infantry
>I am somewhat athletic, I started lifting weights last year and I've done some 5K races
You'll definitely be physically qualified then, don't worry about that. Do you want to be a leader/planner/cheerleader while others do serious fucking work, or do you want to be a technical expert/door-kicker? If the former, commission, if the latter, enlist. If you have questions about what it's like to be an officer, just ask, my man.

Do you have a college degree? Then try and become an officer. You can probably do the exact same thing you are doing now, only for Uncle Sam and with a TS-SCI security clearance.

Do your 6-8 years, get out an O-3 with experience as an S6 (Battalion Signals Officer) and you will be able to get jobs in the private sector worth way more then you are making now.

militaryrates.com/military-pay-charts-o1_o5_2017

And in a few years, he'll nearly automatically be promoted twice.

>When I step outside I have to constantly police my language and thoughts, never letting anyone know what I really think.

Yeah, you're going to have the same problem in the military. More so.

Did your infantry sweeping skills help you with sweeping floors at NASA?

fucking kek
Maybe motorpool line painting will help him into being a floor tech at a hospital.

Best thing I'd never do again.

This but be Corpsman. You can have both if you go FMF.

Demo pay

I got out right after don't ask don't tell was repelled. I do not know much about the new gay army with the infantry women's running around. I had a great time, 11B B4 2B. I can't hear that well now and garrison will get to you after awhile so hope for war if you do join.

The army is not like the movies. Only 1% of personnel get any kind of glory, the rest are mopping floors and being yelled at.

Is this dude irl crouch-jumping through a window?
I want to do this!

O1 2nd lt makes 2650 a month
O6 w 20years in makes about 10k a month
E1 makes 1400 a month
E6 w 20years makes 3400

Have an army story friendo
>be me
>at bragg
>13b beacuse ive got the dumb
>Snort a lot of bath salts
>gangbang some dudes wife
>litte kid walks down staris and sees
>"d-do you wanna play spider man iwht me..?"
>No. I am here to fuck your mom
>kid creis
>my buddy and I bust our loads on kids moms face

This is the basic gist of the military dont let these people fool you my friend

Supposedly USERRA protects guardsmen from being unfairly fired, but like you said, they can trump something up. If it's an established company, though, their HR will know about USERRA and they'll be wary about anything that could expose them to legal trouble.

Someone upthread said to get an 11X contract. I'm not up on the current options, but I think 11X Option 40 puts you in the pipeline for a Ranger Battalion, and 18X puts you in the pipeline for SF. If you fail out, you are assigned based on the needs of the Army and your qualifications. If you are a real hooah warrior and you want to go kill people, those the experts.

You haven't specified officer or enlisted. Since you spend so much time watching anime and jacking off, I'm guessing officer.

Remember also the pay does not cover the fact that he is also being given food, housing, medical care, etc etc etc. that 40k a year is literally spending money.

Yes, that was covered by applicable skills. So unless they're looking to update their website and for some reason don't want to outsource to some cheap little Indian company then I'm sure the OP doesn't quite fit that mark.

Why don't you just get a new job in a different city with a lower cost of living? Or get a remote job and work somewhere you actually want to live?

The fact you don't have wife or kids to tie you down makes this even easier.

All good advice though being a warrant officer is better. Don't have the hassle of managing soldiers and the officers leave you alone.

Go in as an officer so it doesn't suck as much.
Better yet, join the Air Force. Quality of life is so much better than even officers in the Army.

Forget the Army.

Korea is a big fat nothing burger, China has it covered.

Old man with years of experience talking. Move to the "midwest" and you will have a good life. Goog: Black Swan audiobook. Listen for the next 11 hours, than Goog: Antifragile, listen for 10 hours.

This. And the pay isn't too good. I make about 7k a month, but that's before rent, utilities and what not since I'm married. Never feels like enough when you're taking care of two households.
Plus, if I opened my mouth and said what I wanted to say, I'd probably be up for mast. Also, get used to working with either the niggiest of nigs who get the credit for work you're repairing or great black guys who you can trust with your life. Unfortunately the ratio to that is like 10:1, or maybe worse.

Private, you are besmirching our honorable service. As the recipient of a commission from the President of the United States of America, I am giving you a lawful order to delett thsi comment.

The military is a shit career made for trash and niggers with no skill other than dying for israel. Unless you go for some special non-combat service like a mechanic or some Chairforce job you're better off in a civilian life , especially since you seem to have actual skills for a job.
The only pros of being infantry or other pogs is bragging rights, and those won't get you any money.
>t. Chairforce

>125k gross plus benefits. D

AHAHAH. Fucking moron. No don't go into the military. You only go into the military if you want a shitty life for 4+ years.

I'm prior service, and wouldn't do it again. It's fucking brainless and you'll be taking orders from literal retards 99% of the time.

>Should I join the Army?
>I have a pretty good webdev job, make about 125k gross plus benefits

No. If you're dissatisfied with your work, or feel as though you're not making an impact on society, go teach. Joining the military when you think shit is about to go down is also retarded. I get the honor and glory concept, I very seriously considered joining when I was around 18-19, but decided to continue my history degree and teach history. There's way too many liberal teachers, so if you want to help your country, don't be a soldier, be a teacher. Influencing the minds of the young is far more important than being a pawn in the army who just gets sent around to shoot people and eventually die. You're not choosing where to go, and you don't get to pick missions based on if you agree with their agenda. As a citizen, you are more influential on our society than that.

>When I step outside I have to constantly police my language and thoughts, never letting anyone know what I really think.
Yeah, that's 1000x worse in the military.

Ultimately, if you're looking to fight, get into boxing or some other kind of contact sport. I understand the desire for conflict, but you're a lot better off playing rugby or MMA than getting shot at by 60 IQ sandniggers for literally no reason.

I used to work with the happiest, most fun loving guy ever who recently came back for his week leave after marine boot camp. He was broken, looked like a skeleton, very quite and was depressed because he wanted to "just work on tanks or hummers or whatever at a base somewhere." He was told by his recruiter that is what he would be doing and when he got back from boot camp they changed his mos as some truck driver in combat zones. There was a moment all of us at work were trying to support him and let him know how proud we were to see him in his dress blues and he replied by looking up at the sky and saying "I'm going to die by a fucking ied." None of us knew what to say.

I guess the point of all this is for a lot of you guys to really fucking consider the sacrifices you WILL be making. I was going to join years ago but decided against it because of depression and just not being the greatest team player. One of the best things you could do for your country is not waste your military's time. If you're going to join the Marines you better as fuck be ready for it.

One of those "great" black guys still stole the credit card out of my wallet when I was drunk

Become a Marine. Wear the dress blues. Watch the panties drop.

yes.. join up and request infantry

Well, yeah. They're still black. I said trust them with your life, not your wallet.

i got a big man presidental commentational coin from that story amigo no shit.

Have another army tale on the house:

>be me
>fort bragg
>2010
>home from dep
>have new gf
>same buddy and I eat half ounce of mushrooms and bong 30 pack each
>omanbadchoices.jpg
>all fuckered up, decide to break into gf computer
>find secret
>open secret feil
>naked gf pictures
>noice.png
>truly it was not noice
>was new gf making scat porn
>do some bath salts
>called in for early jumparoo
>jump out of plane on bath salts and mushrooms with poo lady on my mind

You could say she was a shitty girlfriend.

HA true........That is like being mad at a bear for eating fish dipped in honey I guess

Did you ask her to shit on you

>ate half ounce of mushrooms

That's when I stopped believing.

You are a bit young for a midlife crisis.

hineysight is 20/20 my fren

bleiving was the only thing keeping me alive that nite thats for fucking sure

>motor pool
>capable of doing anything but sitting in a wheelchair and autistic screeching

In the words of my military family members..."If you can avoid joining, then don't."

>be me
>in Marine Corps delayed entry program
>don't want to die for Israel
>don't want to miss out on a possible military coup
>i've wanted to be in the military since i was a kid
>ship to boot camp in september
wat do

You will die. Are you right with Jesus?

SF or NY I assume. Leaving the industry would be stupid. I guess if you aren't just another asshole hipster then you can move to Austin.

Exactly. It's just in their nature. Hopefully if Korea kicks off and there's a draft, well get a bunch of nigs sent to the meat grinder.

>national guard
>fired for trumped up charges

Won't happen if they are OK with you joining prior to actually swearing in. Guard looks out for you and your boss would be in serious shit if unless you are legitimately fucking off at work. I've been in the guard for 16 years and have never seen a soldier have an issue with an employer.

Granted, if you work for arrogant pacifists, then they may make you WANT to quit.

>He was told by his recruiter that is what he would be doing and when he got back from boot camp they changed his mos as some truck driver in combat zones.

What the recruiters promise and what's delivered don't match. Further, because most potential enlistees don't know the MOS system they'll say something like, "I want to work in technology." The recruiter will spin a tale of some occupation that's basically secretarial that's "technology" because almost everything uses IT.

You need to know specifically what MOS's you want and you need to know you have the ASVAB score to qualify, so take practice tests. Also, if you have a bad financial history it's unlikely you'll get a clearance, and then it's shitty jobs such as field service, truck driving, dfac.

here have another story:

>be me
>bragg
>just left my buddy mid evening banging a toothless hooker
side note: he later threw this bitch off the second story rax. I digress
>read poster about kidnapped 13 y/o girl
>its general daughter
>wellthatsnotgood.png
>keep on keepin on drinking 40ozs and beating up privates in front of their gf
>typical friday night
>enter one dudes room
>heas acting wierd
>hear noise in closet
>open closet
>uhoh.jpg
>get senior ncos
>find little girl in rape closet
>send him to leavenworrh for life

Chances of dying are zero right now unless you are special forces. Join up with the Marines, I planning to next year.

grow benis

eh, seen doctors and priests swear in fairly often. THough, they get direct commissioned as a major or lt colonel or some shit for having a critical skill.

t.that nigger in the platoon.

I'm a dumb poorfag getting a GED so it's going to be Army for me, but I know how you feel

Get btfo by IED in sandistan

I dont understand why people want to join marines/army when there is no war to fight

FYI, soldiers make plenty of money. It's a misconception that they don't make much. The issue is that Privates are dumb as fucking shit and don't know how to handle a steady check. They'll blow it on some rice burner and a stripper wife, divorce, then be fucked for the rest of their lives.

As a last and general note: if anyone tells you that they didnt bang hookers and do enormous amounts of drugs in the military, they are either lying to you or will tell on you in a heartbeat. Avoid them
