Why are so many people so fucking stupid to believe that a NK missile would even reach 10% the distance to USA before being fried?
The USA has NK absolutely covered in anti-missile satellites that can fry them with lasers, countless cruisers that can shoot them down and even cargo liners currently across the pacific are outfitted with lasers that can do it.
They haven't played their hand yet and let NK know about this because that's saved for when a missile heads towards them. Then its shot down somewhere near japan, then NK gets sunk.

There is no way that fighters could be scrambled and reach the missile in that time. Considering the best care scenario, the missile takes 5m to reach 150 km altitude. This is still over 100km higher than the world record for a jet aircraft. Realistically, the fighters would have 1-2 minutes to get to the missile and shoot it down. Unless the airfield was right on the NK border, there is literally no chance.

the main issue is that for those targets really close to NK like SK and Japan, it becomes an issue of how fast we detect their missiles being launched and how fast countermeasures can be launched against it.

the problem with range is diffusion. the lens / lens array can only focus the light on a point at a set distance. the funny thing is to far or to close and it stops being effective. picture the laser light as a cone . a very long one but a cone all the same. at its apex it then returns another cone. the pointed side touching the other pointed side of the first cone. lasers dont magically avoid needing to be focused and they dont avoid atmospheric interference. satellites are in orbit outside the ozone layer and well above clouds.
the defense satellite also needs to move to hit the target unless you think there are a billion of them each focused on different points and no need to rotate at all which would be funny i think america has a total of 13 defense satellites (still in operation) and most are from before the 90s and not y2k compliant. rotating takes time and uses compressed gas. how many times have they turned over the years or had to readjust position to stay in orbit and not burn up crashing into the atmosphere or drift out into space. long term geo synchronis orbit is beyond humanity nasa admitted it
and here is where both come into play it will only be targetable after it clears the clouds and the satellite would need to be facing it almost exactly because as it gets closer it will seem to move faster. escape velocity is kinda fast

The railguns are close to being ready afaik, however there is still the problem of velocity. SAM's can reach ~Mach 10, and therefore are quicker than railgun projectiles. They can also use splash damage to hit the missile, whereas currently railgun projectiles are solid penetrators. On the other hand, railguns have a longer range, but the trajectory calculation to land a direct hit would have to be perfect and that would be no easy task considering the boost phase timeframe.

First of all... There are indeed laser missile defense systems that do exist HOWEVER, they are not super effective plus you guys need to realize that shooting down an icbm much harder than a missile as the only phase that you can realistically shoot it down in would be the re entry phase which is only 2 minutes and it goes 1000-7000 m/s. However the United states does have one of the worlds only anti ICBM systems in California and they have tested it successfully, but if North Korea launched several icbms I'm quite sure that at least one or more would hit.
So can we all agree at least that shooting down ICBMs is a big fucking ask? The TR3B as a nuke interceptor?

I'm aware of that, I use lasers in my work. I'm confident the Americans have tech that can alter the focus length in a smooth curve, failing that some array like what optometrists use to get hundreds of combinations able to be swapped within a second.
