I think they are pine trees.
i don't know what is expected of identifying them down to species level, or how you would go about from differentiating one species of pine from another via satellite pics...
but I think knowing they are pines, especially young ones means that you can distinguish them from olive trees. given that they look planted they maybe near some larger older stands.
Nathan Perez
Did nobody save my doodle of what I thought the plan of the camp was?
I need a map of the country as a whole with current occupations delineated

OK fagots, stop searchin in Idlib. HEre is the translation from one of the articles about it:
Hama (قاسيون) - The faction of the army of pride of the Syrian opposition announced today noon, the graduation of the eleventh batch of camp «Knights of Azza» rural northern Hama.
Capt. Mustafa Maarati, commander of the camp, told Qassion that "the course was subjected to various types of training, to serve as an extension of the fighters of the army of pride on the fronts of fighting against the Syrian regime."
The course included training in "military tactics, movement on the battlefield, as well as training on various types of weapons, through a number of professional trainers."
Meanwhile, Ali Abu Mariam, one of the trainers of the camp, noted that "the new cadres will contribute to defeating the regime of Bashar al-Assad and the foreign militias supporting it on all fronts in the north of Syria."
It should be noted that the faction of the army of pride has already gone out ten former camps since its formation, the last of which was on the eleventh of last June.
IT'S RURAL NORTHERN HAMA!
So search in the vicinity of pic rel. Also, you get the north wrong. It was noon and sun was shining at the truck's glass. SO the tower is north oriented. Will add proper screen enxt.
No but I can find it in the archives. >inb4 too drubnk to do that.

>Modrzew Larch
Larches are conifers in the genus Larix, in the family Pinaceae. Growing from 20 to 45 m tall (65 to 147 ft),[1] they are native to much of the cooler temperate northern hemisphere, on lowlands in the north and high on mountains further south.
If it is a larch then it must be growing high up. I don't think they are larch.
Christian Bell

Only Idlib area and maybe Homs pocket matter for this one but good for future references.

The overlap of terrain in rebel-occupied territories.
Should clear some of the confusion that might arise by investigating close to the borders. Should give clearer parameters which to search.
Lucas Turner
It's where the larch grows in insurgent held areas

Figure 1: Turkish Pine Figure 2: Cilician Fir Figure 3: Some more Cilician fir Figure 4: Turkish pine Figure 5: Turkish pine Correct me if I'm wrong. The existence of the pines would imply it's not in Northern Hama to me, but are the beheaders clever enough to mislead enemies? Are there any notable wooded areas outside of pic related?
Samuel Adams
>Correct me if I'm wrong. The existence of the pines would imply it's not in Northern Hama to me They've planted the Turkish pines there to fool us

For all we know it's not natural forest. Not much of Northern Hama falls into the pine's growth range though. Had I access to a mouse I'd overlay some of these maps and start looking.
