Why don't you already have 5-10? Every border you have is ocean.

>HMAS Melbourne (R21)
>Fate: Sold for scrap
RIP

No, you know you'd just fuck it up and put ramps on it

wtf for mate? It wouldn't be more useful than our current arsenal. You want it for China? They would be too busy dealing with the US and UK navy anyway.

Just build nukes and go full hermit kingdom.

Haahahahahhahaha ausfalia doesn't even have an aircraft carrier? No wonder lmao

We already have 2 and there fucked, also theyre helicopter carriers so souble fucked

Yes, get a hand me down from US.

Sure, but get some aircraft first.

Seeing as how Australia literally doesn't matter to the world, sure OP. Get an aircraft carrier.

They have a treaty that says YOU will save them when China invades

lol !!!

Go figure that the rebels have to save the commonwealth from the wogs.

no. huge waste of money. let the US go bankrupt paying China massive (((interest)))

>Australian """"""""military"""'""""

Why do you need an aircraft carrier that can be sunk by a $5,000 Chinese missile when your air force has an unending supply of Emu squadrons?

You know, I think this is the first year of my life where I'm going to feel like I'm getting value for my taxes.

>Australia GDP $1.2T
>NYC GMP $1.35T

Your entire nation has a lower GDP that my hometown, what do you need an aircraft carrier for?

I have a better idea: apply to be the 51st state, beat Canada and the UK to the punch.

This way you'll get dozens.

We really need to start reading all the terms and conditions before agreeing to shit.

Acquire some population first.

Like we need Bogans and Abos shitting up the place. There are enough shitskins and meth heads here already.

No, just add propellers to Tasmania and use that.

You don't want us to have carriers. That's how US destroyers get their shit pushed in.

>On the night of 2–3 June, Melbourne and her escorts were involved in anti-submarine training exercises. In preparation for launching a Grumman S-2 Tracker aircraft, Stevenson ordered Evans to the plane guard station, reminded the destroyer of Melbourne's course, and instructed the carrier's navigational lights to be brought to full brilliance. This was the fourth time that Evans had been asked to assume this station that night, and the previous three manoeuvres had been without incident. Evans was positioned on Melbourne's port bow, but began the manoeuvre by turning starboard, toward the carrier. A radio message was sent from Melbourne to Evans's bridge and Combat Information Centre, warning the destroyer that she was on a collision course, which Evans acknowledged. Seeing the destroyer take no action and on a course to place herself under Melbourne's bow, Stevenson ordered the carrier hard to port, signalling the turn by both radio and siren blasts. At approximately the same time, Evans turned hard to starboard to avoid the approaching carrier. It is uncertain which ship began to manoeuvre first, but each ship's bridge crew claimed that they were informed of the other ship's turn after they commenced their own. After having narrowly passed in front of Melbourne, the turns quickly placed Evans back in the carrier's path. Melbourne hit Evans amidships at 3:15 am, cutting the destroyer in two.

China has two now btw
and you guys are getting a "super" one now iirc?

>Tanzania-Tasmania
nicely done

You mean like HMAS Canberra and HMAS Adelaide?

They may be Landing Helicopter Dock vessels for amphibious warfare, but they are basically Aussie fits of Spanish Juan Carlos I, which is Harrier (and future F-35B) capable.

So yeah the Aussies totally could operate them like carriers. It just requires a significant investment in aircraft, personnel and equipment.
However it would mean the ships are no longer capable of performing the tasks they were bought for in the first place because the jets reduce the amount of helicopters and ground vehicles the ships can carry. So potentially a third ship may not to be bought to offset that. Or a whole new defence strategy needs to be thought up.

But it is possible. It just requires a shedload of money and the political will to do so.

We are. The Gerald Ford Class. Nationalism aside, it's an interesting thing to read. No urinals for all of our transgenders and lesbians btw.
thefordclass.com/

Obviously you should just get full use of our Aircraft carriers. American attitude on survey, only ~3% fewer Americans would not go to war over an attack on Australian soil versus American soil.

Unspoken truth, Australia is the crazy brother nation that fights against the emus so we don't have to.

They should probably just take Norfolk Island. It's smaller but it has an airport and it wouldn't take as many propellers to move.

>acquire
Yeeeeaarrrrrr. This be a good plan, matey.

>Bogans
Dont exist
>Abos
Never heard from unless you go into the middle
>shitskins
Australia is well over 54%
>meth heads
Youre right about this one, theres so many

>put ramps on it
underrated.

Why would we need them? Carriers are for expeditionary forces where you need air supremacy far away from airfields. We don't have the desire of world domination so it would be a waste of money.

More subs will be a better investment.

No. They should instead use that theoretical money to retake government companies that they sold off. Only let female immigrants in and ship all the SJW fat cunts to Canada.

>ramps
Kek, anyone got that image?

Do you mean 54% shitskins? Maybe if your in Melbourne City or Sydney.

dumb, of course their are no urinals. Urinals are rarely on USN ships for a while. They don't work as well and they provide less flexibility on gender designation for heads.

also that's a beautiful shot. AFAIK the screws on that thing are classified.

54% white aka America

Only if it's gonna be nuclear powered

Disagree. With some small alterations to the shape of the mainland, Tasmania could dock very nicely. It could also have two huge runways crossing each other.

Ah right

...

Hey, I'm not in the Navy, just saw an article about it. It's a beautiful ship and I keep my sanity by assuming that my taxes go entirely towards things like that.

Whats Sup Forumss thoughts on a union with New Zealand, PNG and polynesia? It could help get Australia more stronk

>apply to be the 51st state
Best idea in the thread.

PNG would be a detriment retard. How about we only let countries in that don't have malaria?

We basically own PNG already.

Fuck the Aussies nigga

B-but m-muh historical value.
Would be easy to fix with our god-tier aus medical abilities

>screws
As a hobbyist carpenter, I scoff.

Nah, if those dirty spics in PR think they can be a state, you can be one too. You'd get 12 Senators and a bunch of Representatives. Plus if NK or China threatens you we'd nuke the shit out of them. You can't tell me your leadership would do that for you.

Australia doesn't need to project air power, and their nation is a damned solid aircraft carrier.
Plus how do you steer and aircraf carrier drunk on Foster's and constantly throwing shrimps on the barbie?

We used to ;_:

No. Aircraft carriers are going to be obsolete in short order.

Orbital bombardment platforms will be able to wipe out entire carrier fleets without any risk and for a fraction of the costs.

20 years and aircraft carriers will be no more than so many Polish cavalry men charging panzers.

Propeller

You need nuclear weapons.

>Would be easy to fix with our god-tier aus medical abilities
Yeah, if they paid us in full that is

...

The only reason for getting one is that it allows us to project force away from the mainland which lets us keep a tighter leash over all the shitty island countries that we're somehow responsible for because we're the only adult in the whole region.

We'd never conduct solo operations against anyone else with one, we don't need one for defence, and any coalition ops we have will be with partners who have aircraft carriers or bases to operate from.

But we can project power just fine with the forces we have anyway. It's not like any of those shitty nations will be able to resist our Navy as it is, so why spend so fucking much on a boat we don't need.

We have two F-35B-capable carriers anyway. We just call them LHDs to keep the Greens quiet.

Why bother. We could never field the aircraft to make it feared.

it also liked to chop American destroyers in half

Why do they not have aircraft carriers?!?

The secret is to have both

Our carriers are used to project force across the fuckhuge oceans. If you're just concerned about shitty island countries there are much better options with long range bombers.

Why would we want to be part of a non-white nation?

Or if in exchange, they provide us with frontline troops and give us their entire land so we can take Indonesia with our new upgraded army

Australia fascist superpower 2020

Sold it to the PRC for scrap and because we didn't strip it properly they used it as the basis of their aircraft carrier research programme.

Exactly right, and we used to have F-111Cs for that purpose. I think our air-refuelling capabilities give us enough range on our F-18s though.

>Why would we want to be part of a non-white nation?
Go easy man. Americans can't handle bantz like we can

Chinese aren't white my friend. Realistically, though, outside of California, NY and Florida we are ballpark 75% white. Imagine a Commonwealth without those idiots in the UK running things. It's a dream and will never happen, but we could do great things together.

For what purpose? When in the foreseeable future would we need to project overseas power in a situation where we aren't a part of an American carrier group?

More missile cruisers.

Shit, at least I can buy a house in my hometown because no gooks want to live here.
>inb4 gooks like living in your town rather than mine
There's a lot of money in rubber dogshit from china.

>Why would we want to be part of a non-white nation?
because you can boost us from 60% to 68%

>Imagine a commonwealth without those idiots in the UK running things

>Mfw orbital ship battles in WW3

He meant Bunyips, not Bogans. We have enough Bigfeet here. Stay out.
>just kidding, Aussies are great

>getting
>one
>now
HAHAHAHA

...

best flag

That would make a lot of sense, being that Australia is a net-importer of food, you would get fucked pretty hard by any sort of naval blockade.

Damn I really dig that flag, no joke.

My thoughts also. Any conflict that would warrant the show of force a carrier entails would likely infer support from the United States and others aligned with Australia's ideals.

Australia would do well to instead invest more in their ground forces so as to add a meaningful contribution to such a collaboration.

we export more food than we import

No, our air force planes can fly further than 300 nautical miles now, It's not 1942.

Oust the brits when?

Get used to it, it'll our new one once Englands fucking queen finally dies

The new carrier is a beast, I'm a bit proud that part of my labor went to fund it.

Oh I wasn't sure so I googled it and just clicked on the first link, maybe it's outdated.

Submarines will sink every Aircraft carrier in the first week of combat.

We have no use for them, rather spend it on more Subs.

>Australia builds a new aircraft carrier
>Have it crewed by women in the name of equality
>It sinks on its maiden voyage
>Men's fault

Good point

Emus would sink it in a matter of hours.

lol mate but your 'democracy' is fucked tho. Judges run for election, your legislature is corrupt as fuck and full of lobbies - especially lobbies that suck zionist cock and your executive is hamstrung by the people behind the scenes that actually run things so thanks but nah cobbah

Democracy was never good

No user, Australia IS an aircraft carrier.

Nah we have a decent sized green belt along the southeast, between the coastal cities and the desert.

It's one of several other reasons China is so interested in exerting influence over us; we feed them.

Submarines are more valuable than carriers, Aussie.

TAKE OUR REFUGEES!

We have subs, we don't need to project sea power onto land...Except Timore.

It's hard to know for sure what would happen in reality, but US Navy's whole battle strategy revolves around preventing that kind of thing.

In the infamous millenial wargame when our carriers were "sunk", the guy who acted as the enemy general didn't use submarines, he used speed-boats.

china imports as much food as they can get from us, its made meat prices here double

the US has blocked free trade with us for decades to protect your farmers

we lack on the manufactured goods side importing just about everything

moot point though as only the American navy is large enough to blockade our extremely large coast line

Judges running for election is a good thing. The people hold them to account every 2 years. Our Sherrifs have to run for their elected position as well. If they're bad we vote them out. There are 3 shitskin states, CA, NY, and FL. That's where all of the jokers come from. They breed like rabbits and that's why they have so much visibility. Luckily the men who founded our nation saw this coming and protected us from it.

It means that judges become political when they are supposed to be apolitical and simply enforce the law as it was written and intended.

Actually, Trump should challenge the bill that prevents federal employees from being fired as easily as private sector employees.

Also, remember it is an executive order that allowed public sector employees to form unions which is something even the Democrat's hero, FDR, was against since he thought it wasn't right for public sector employees to form unions.

Since it was an executive order and not a bill, Trump could actually revoke that executive order that allows public sector employees to form unions.
