Reality: The corporate heads in the senate and congress, make sure that the US spend more money in which they profit from being shareholders and CEOs of major corporations.
From $19.5 trn GDP, taxed at 10.5%, only just over 300bn is added to the treasury, why not 1.7 trn? Because it is mostly rebated back. While employees pay their taxes which equate to around 2.6 trn a year. So civilians pay more than corporations. FACT.
2. The outdated 2nd Amendment, people think having the right to bear arms etc is a great thing.
Reality: It is for the corporate heads again, they get the profits from sale of weapons and ammo, and so what if thousands die each year from gun crime?
3. Americans attack other Americans, because they feel their liberties are being attacked by the others.
Reality: Americans attack because they anger quickly, and they are taught not to question and to believe what they are told, so when someone says different - instead of having a chat with someone about their opinion, they have to fight because "how dare they think differently like me, they are not being American" - funny thing both sides think that.
4. Americans think the nation is divided in half equally with far left liberals and far right fascists.
Reality: They are a small number of people, who bring extra shame to their country.
5. Americans think they eat well.
Reality: A huge chunk of Americans think cheap ready meals etc are eating well, it is the combination of machine reclaimed meat with health affecting additives, its one purpose is to fatten people up, but they do not fill an appetite, so they eat more of it.
It is rare these days for people to buy fresh fruit and veg and meat cuts from a butcher, because the price and/or ignorance to their diets.

If Venezuela manages to do something about their potential dictator, it could be a similar recovery. They've been corrupt for decades now, but I'm not sure if their state ran as deep as in the USSR. They would definitely have to work on industry to compliment their oil. Even if they can't get the same GDP as they had at the biggest oil boom, they could easily create a stable living economy. All eggs not in one basket is econ 101.
