>thoughts on modern art
art is art is art is art.
some tickles fancies.
some doesn't.

anybody that has a differing opinion on the subject is slow.

If anyone spent 160mil on this piece of shit, they are fucking retarded.

people will buy anything.

even human faeces.

FPBP

Or a money launderer

>walk into modern art museum
>place random on the floor in a vacant part of the museum
>place a "do not touch the exhibits" sign near it
>???
>profit.

These idiots are holding it sideways. It's clearly a nude woman as interpreted by a crack and alcohol adeled gorilla.

crap
>place random object on the floor
too drunk to think.

It's called the "Woman-Ochre" not "piece of shit"

>What is your thoughts on modern art pol?
Supply and demand based on the reputation of the artist vs the method of acquisition....Basically, these things are rare but require a story to increase the value....being lost forever increases the value. Another HUGE requirement for art value is that the artist must be dead...no chance of making any more comparable pieces.

>it's somehow worth 160million dollars

Are you questioning capitalism son? What, are you some kind of Pinko commie?

Art is objective and has high standards. What we are witnessing in this age is self expressionism. Mona Lisa is art to everyone, because it's beautiful and a masterpiece. While on the other hand, self expressionism is art only to those who can relate to it

High priced art is mostly money laundering

>Woman-Ochre" not "piece of shit"

Ochre -> mud -> slang for poo/shit

No, he's actually correct, it is a piece of shit, just he failed to be more precise, due to the adjective "woman": the painting title essentially means "Woman Poo".

someday they'll sort through chan art

>Ochre
you're actually right.. I can see it now it is a woman taking a poop.. 160million there you go..

>Another HUGE requirement for art value is that the artist must be dead

Pablo Picasso would beg to differ

De Kooning was brilliant. Go fuck your self.

Modern art is the best sample of what happens if Cultural Marxism is left unchallenged, it has inflitrated all art institutions (one of the reasons why artists tend to be leftists) and it has reverted and destroyed what art used to stand for.

Art is not just about being creative (that is what modern art is all about) art involves craftmanship, skill, hours and years of dedication. For a piece to have the masterpiece standard it has to involve skill, craft and dedication - I see none of that in modern "art".

ding ding ding

There's a reason Hitler banned this shit.

there are 1000s of graffiti that has more artistic integrity than that. Could imagine that being 50-200$, garage sale or thrift store $15

if that was the case couldnt every purchase of high price questionable art be investigated?

There's a reason Hitler stole this shit

just watched that episode of its always sunny kek

A lot of things that get big prices at auction are valuable, not only as pieces of art, but also how they figure in the development of art.

It a question of how 'important' it is as an early example of art moving in a new direction.

Any competent graphic designer can do the stuff Andy Warhol does, but he is well known because he got there first and pioneered a certain style/philosophy/asethetic that went on to become a part of the culture.

A lot of Warhols later stuff doesn't command big prices because at a certain point he ran out of ideas and was no longer doing innovative/important work.

All that said -- there IS an element of fraud in the art world. A lot of it is wealthy jewish galleries and agents scratching each other's backs.

90-99% of that value is for "bonus package" things like drugs and guns

This painting is an insult to the frame.

Money laundering

Expensive art is a form of money laundering for rich people. They also use artwork donations to avoid paying taxes on other income.

You can get good art for $100 from your local co-op or college students. It's not just a matter of taste; it's a complex scam when art costs this much.

It's money laundering

^^^^^^^^

>pencil scribble like a 5 year old
>I can do that
It's not art
>Aha! But you didn't do it therefore it is art
Wew

Ochre is a variety of common pigment used in painting you gigantic faggot.
