The polls were fake. They made up the numbers to push the narrative "Trump is so far behind you shouldn't even bother voting for him." The approval rating numbers you see now are also fake and they are being used to push the same narrative "Trump is so hated, you shouldn't support him/his agenda." Trump at the very least has the support of the people that voted for him and at this point probably has more as well when you consider the fact he's done more in six months than Obama did in eight years.
