So few days ago we had a beta test for the political chat website.
I am very glad that it caught on and that people continued using it even though it was a mess at the time. Now, I've done some fixes and it should endure a bit more.
Changelog: >fixed some messaging stuff (most of changes, don't even know where to start explaining) >sound notification when entering chat >background images should now display correctly >something else I probably forgot
I'm open to suggestions but please skip (this was every second post in last thread): >"other user is typing" thing, since it requires a total rework which is not possible due to my hosting options
Please report if: >Chat ends abruptly even though it seems the other person was about to proceed responding >You enter in chat and other person doesn't respond - two or more times in a row (if it's once, it's probably just that one person left the chat) >other odd bugs you detect
Thanks in advance, and I'd appreciate if you bump the thread if you like it.
Here's pasta from previous thread: How it works: All 14 positions are currently divided into 4 camps hostile to each other to the point a discussion can be had. I would recommend LARPing for a start if your queue is more than a minute since potential disbalance could occur. Once you get into a chat, it's pretty similar to omegle. 2 escapes to cancel a chat, 3 to return to "home". What the "A" button does I will let you figure out for yourself (see second webm).
This part is for Sup Forums: I do not recommend using it on small-resolution smartphones because I have not optimized the website for it. Larger tablets work fine. It is using shared hosting so host could bottleneck me if too many users connect, but the whole thing ought not to be too CPU-intensive for them. I do not at this point store messages - they are deleted as soon as they are read in order to keep tables small (unless in certain situations, such as other person disconnecting before the server detects it etc. - everything older than 30mins is purged manually). The only thing stored is the text from point of agreement (A button in chat, you'll figure out from second webm). I do not log nor check IPs in any way but I might implement it in the future for purposes of banning people (if that even shows to be necessary, and judging by omegle it's possible that it won't). VPNs and proxies work fine. If you are using uMatrix/noScript jquery and website's javascript is required in order to communicate with the server.
The future: If you generally like it, I will make a simle app that optimizes the website for android and put it out there to reach more mainstream political positions. If it ever gets popular to the point where it could sustain itself, I'll get a dedicated server for it and introduce websockets which would introduce "the other user is typing" and instant responses (overall, smoother experience). I will also add the news sections, elaborations on positions etc.
Nicholas Phillips
why there is no alt-center? shit
Julian King
esoteric sargonism?
Xavier Jones
Just a correction here: >All 14 positions are currently divided into 4 camps hostile to each other to the point a discussion can be had
I have modified it for the time being so that it pairs any two persons of different positions.
Also, if you're in queue and nobody is joining, please do bump the thread, someone will join eventually.
Carson Harris
Seems cool but what do I do? You gotta give me something to do. A goal or topic
Benjamin King
BTW, if You're alone the site looks very high quality. 10/10 would use
Josiah Sullivan
I do plan to introduce a topic of the day, but it would be optional.
Thanks bro, this was my first take on material design.
John Howard
I like it so far but I had to go back to check what the flag meant for the other person. A pop up that says what they chose would be helpful.
Zachary Foster
Ah yes, I knew I forgot to add something. This was a popular request.
Alexander Sanders
bump for interest
Jayden Adams
>poldare.com Take out the fucking faggot ass name censors, if I want to name myslef Nigger I should fucking damn well be able to
Christopher Williams
Also, if you encounter some errors, please do say.
It will help a lot. I saw that there were few short chats so I'm not sure if they ended naturally or if there was an issue somewhere. Knowing the circumstances under which they ended would help a lot.
Connor Thomas
this
also bump this shit looks good
Wyatt Cook
This is how I know what is going on.
There was an ancap in queue but he gave up until now.
Sebastian Evans
Also for explanation of "A" button, see this webm
Brandon James
Also, pro-tip: If you open multiple chats in tabs in same browser, your old chat will die (due to shared localstorage of that browser).
1 person in queue
Mason Murphy
you should keep the dumb silhouette out
Henry Butler
Could do that easily. First time someone complained about that though.
Leo King
I thought it was a group chat thing. What's the point of this website?
Juan Ross
>I thought it was a group chat thing In the future I plan to add something like this.
>What's the point of this website? To chat with your political opponents on private and anonymous terms 1 on 1.
Christian Roberts
They kinda serve no purpose other than some flare. It'd be neater if they came up as a silhouette of a historical figure representing one of the flags present in the conversation.
Jaxson Powell
Yes, I originally intended to add both several historical and contemporary figures for each position and then display them randomly (if they belong to that position).
I went with 1 image for now.
Leo Clark
>In the future I plan to add something like this. Please do, it will be fun I promise. :^)
>To chat with your political opponents on private and anonymous terms 1 on 1. And why would anyone do that? Especially leftists and commies who don't have anything logical and substantial to say. Have you ever debated with them? It's like talking to a retard, they repeat the same thing again and again until they faint or you fuck off first. But I like your intention and what you're doing here. All the best for it.
Tyler Morales
Learning the talking points of opposition is casually good way to start deconstructing them. But yeah, I can imagine that political extremes would have a tough time talking to each other, unless they really want it.
>But I like your intention and what you're doing here. All the best for it. Thanks bro.
Xavier Evans
It seems boring and aimless (don't mean to be a dick). >ok, we're both of different political ideologies... Now what? That kind of aimless.
>first take And a pretty good one, it needs some work on the animations to be more fluid but hey, you're 90% there, good job.
Hunter Sanders
Well political opponents usually do find something to talk about, at the very least it could start with an insult.
But I can see how what you're talking about could happen. Will add.
Jason Morales
are you logging chats? you should take the apropiate measures not to
Levi Clark
>are you logging chats?
No. Messages are purged when they are received. See "part for Sup Forums" for full explanation.
Luis Ward
Also, I think that it shouldn't just be political opponents. People of the same ideology should be able to converse with one another, or at least have the option to, in order to discuss the differences they hold within it.
Also, are all ideologies forced to speak to some one on the opposite spectrum, or will a fascist and a nazi/communist and an 'anarcho-commie' end up talking to one another?
Easton Cooper
i like it op, different types of communication provide different interactions.
Nathaniel Myers
>Also, I think that it shouldn't just be political opponents. People of the same ideology should be able to converse with one another, or at least have the option to, in order to discuss the differences they hold within it. I will add this, it will take me a few hours but this is a plan for several days already.
>Also, are all ideologies forced to speak to some one on the opposite spectrum, or will a fascist and a nazi/communist and an 'anarcho-commie' end up talking to one another?
At this moment, no. You are paired with anyone who is not of your exact position. On the first test, there were 4 groups, 1 (classlib, lib, socdem), 2 (prog, green, com, ancom), 3 (con, libert, ancap), 4 (altright, fasc, natsoc, trad) and they were not matched within their own group.
The final system will be a user choice of these systems.
Leo Rivera
I'd say have options for historical, contemporary or both!
Adam Russell
m i dont know. its kind of unexpected when it is random
Logan Myers
The time for debates are over take your shirty fucking dog Shit site to reddit
Julian Thomas
I was considering "finalargument.com" as url, but it's taken.
Jaxson Smith
OP, I think this is a great idea. Probably a huge honeypot/psy op, but I'm incredibly lonely so I don't mind
Ryan Brown
Thanks matey. I can only say that proxies and VPNs work, beyond that it's on whatever you decide to do.
Carter Price

bumping, good shit
Nathan Sanchez
will you add more ideologies? also can you explain some of the flags please (what is that flag for conservatism)
Lucas Howard
You should have a list of political issues/events, and pick one randomly from there for each new chat.
Ryder Gomez
Good work user, just had a long convo with a classical liberal type, more in common than I'd have thought.
Samuel Martin
Thanks.
>will you add more ideologies? Maybe, if there's a lot of requests for something not included. I already have some potential changes ready though.
>also can you explain some of the flags please (what is that flag for conservatism) Conservative and progressive flags are placeholders since I couldn't find a better one. If you have any suggestions do post, I'll shift them immediately.
Gavin Baker
Good thinking, will add.
Thank you a lot, it's a good feeling when people enjoy your work.

Can we get a centrist option?
Gabriel Rodriguez
Can you elaborate a on that? Few positions there could be considered under "center" category, as could be on left and right.
Lincoln Sanchez

Ethan James
Only when I get a dedicated server on which I can run node.js/websockets.
That's beyond of what I can afford atm.
David Peterson
Also, if you have some background suggestions, do say.

Thanks man. Knowing that people like my creation gets me fell butterflies in the belly.

You should write who the backgrounds represent somewhere. Who's the natsoc guy?

>You should write who the backgrounds represent somewhere
I'll need position explanation section, that's where I'll put it. /leftypol/ already offered for some of their positions.
