For those who don't quite get it yet, this is a very dangerous situation. These people were ready to severely beat or kill you. If you had said one wrong word they probably would have, and they were clearly looking to pull something out of you as an excuse.

I don't think you did too bad, but when you had the opportunity to leave you should have taken it. Just walk calmly with the people who were neutral and willing to cover you. This was another situation where I don't think people realised how much danger they were in.
